And please - economy of India is not surging because of Indians abroad - it is surging because Globalization has enabled India and China open markets and due to their less cost of living / currency and skills they get the production and services . Indians abroad invest in India coz of greater rates of return and Indian Govt well understands this - hence has different investing categories for Indians and NRIs.
Its not "because" of Indians abroad, but the Indians abroad were and ARE a big contributing factor. Sure, none of this would happen if Indians in India aren't working hard to demonstrate their value and the bulk of credit should go to them. But you have to live in a fool's paradise to think that India or China just got lucky and that globalization just happened to miss a LOT of other potential candidates and landed in those places.
You can continue with your "views" that Indians abroad have nothing to do with the economic progress of India. I'll go with facts.
The link I posted for Investpro may help your "views" though.

Again depends on one's perception. Though I will say that Indians overseas are a contributing factor, the question is whether they are a 'big' one.
I will go with that they are a miniscule contributing factor.
Again to each their own.

Amused to see this type of discussion. I am glad that some CDs have the same view as mine toward the lady in question.
May be its time to close the discussion and move on with other important issues .

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
Here are a couple of rhetorical question for DIO and for any other person who wishes to reply.
A person who has a maternal grandmom of Swiss origin( was a Christian missionary and converted to Hinduism)and maternal granddad of Indian origin, i.e his mother is half Swiss and half- Indian and his father is 100% Indian. What is he? Indian or 3/4 Indian?
If he has on top of that married an Indian lady, how Indian does that make him?
This person is in Canada now since a few years. Still doesn't have a Canadian passport.
Also there is another guy. Left Pakistan (he is Hindu) just before partition with a Brit passport. Didn't get Canadian one till the 70's. Married a Hindu lady from India with Indian passport (now Can passport holder). I have never seen any one with such strict Indian values in my life before. He never claims he is Indian nor Pakistani. Always says he was a Brit and is now Canadian. Hasn't been to India in the last 22 years and couldn't care less for it, but his name, thoughts, actions but not his accent will make you think he is Indian- 100% . Big believer in Krishna and knows Bhagvad Gita inside out. I have seen him shame the so -called Sadhus ( even those who have gained international status) who come here and totally blow their brains with his in-depth knowledge.
Did 'Globalization' fall out from the sky?
The curent trends are a direct result of the rise and acceleration of IT. So there are 2 ways of looking at it.
1)Indians in India and the Chinese in China started the IT trend.
2) Or that they were part of the trend but had to move OUT OF INDIA, to countries with capital resources, to harness their potential.
Their innovations and that of their western colleagues have equalized the playing field for countries that were previously considered 'third world'. This parity in the playing field has enabled 'Globalization'.
So either way we are all in it together. Saying that Indians or Chinese have done it by themselves is probably as myopic as saying that Indians or chinese were not well poised to benefit from the breakthroughs in IT(and the changes it brought).
Back to 'Indianess'...how exactly 'Indian' are the millions of Indians working and playing in India? How 'undiluted' is their culture be it their western clothing or their choices for entertaintment. Divorces are on the rise etc...etc
Culture is always 'diluted' by change.
Just because one does not agree with it, does not mean the changes are bringing about less 'Indian' populace in India.Just like opening a hindu temple does not dilute Canadian Culture/heritage.
Nothing is constant including 'Indian Culture/Heritage' or 'Canadian Culture/Heritage'.
Sunita can either be one of the faces of change in how Indians and the world sees people of Indian Heritage.
OR
Sunita can be an American with nothing to offer India.
