Would anyone please throw some light on what generally desi ladies do in Canada? What sort of job opportunities and social opportunities are available for them?
I have generally seen that among the aspiring immigrants, men are more interested in immigration than their better halves. The ladies have their own stereo type reasons for disliking family re-location. They carry lot of doubts in their minds about settlement, Indian family values, their social circle, their men liking goris, etc. etc.
A positive and unbiased discussion on this issue, I am sure will ease tension of lot of fairer sexes. Give it a chance at least. It is an interesting topic.

Educated Desi ladies - get jobs in their professions. Manage family and work - difficult!
Semi-Educated Desi ladies - do some odd jobs (grocery/adminstrative etc.) and go to kitty parties.
Un-Educated Desi ladies - look for men with ferraris

I don't agree it depend's on individual choice if she likes to work or stay home.It doesn't mean thay are semi educated and they do kitty parties only.

You cannot generalize about what "Desi" women do.
Desi women do ..what other women do!
However if you feel that only immigrant men get the better deal out of immigrating think about this:
1) Desi women get away from their mother in laws 
2) Desi women have unlimited education and job possibilities
3) Desi women can go out unescorted without fear for their personal safety (within limits of course - some places are not safe for anyone)
4) Desi women can also meet gora's 
5) Desi women can expect and demand that their spouse's do equal time in housework, childcare etc !!

Desi women mostly end up keeping their marital home in case of dispute with spouse, as men 
are forced to live elsewhere.
