I haven't ever faced racism in Canada but statistics seem to support the so called hidden racism in Canada

I have not experienced any such situation. But does it really means that - if you can't see it, then it does not exists ?

Racism is an excuse used by Desi's to hide their own deficiencies.

I see so many second gen desis in my company and are doing very well. Maybe because it is IT sector? I see secon gen to be at a very good advantage.

Expanding on your thoughts, my take is it may not be necessarily racism, but prejudice. Maybe, I just sounded like Bill Clinton...just twisting the use of words. However, prejudice could be applied against anyone. It could be because of perceptions about certain groups of people.

We had a guy walk in for an interview with an ear ring in one of his ear and his clothes looked like he had just fallen into a dumpster. Would you hire such an individual? To be very honest, I would have a very hard time looking beyond his appearance and judge him only by his interview performance. My prejudice is wrong, but that's what I would tend to do.

We also once interviewed a guy with an elegant pony tail (no more than a foot long ;) ), but all suited up for a professional appearance. I'd rather hire (and we did) this guy than the other one with the tattered clothes.

The above cases were not Indians. Anyway, one can expand that prejudice based on how one speaks, appears for the interview, confidence level, quality of resume, body odour, use of language during interview (diplomacy, non-confrontational, etc), punctuality, dining etiquette (if interview happens over lunch/dinner), level of interaction and many, many more factors.

It is interesting what the study has found. However it would be interesting to note what geographical areas were most represented in this study.

I have seen less post secondary education (ie. in this case at University level) in the Lower mainland. Where I grew up (Manitoba), The desi 2nd gens were generally very highly educated (smaller population though)..

I dont think this is an excuse to hide 'deficiences' as the study was not said to have been done by desis.

Dimple2001: I agree. A person has things he/she can control. You cannot control race, ethnicity, gender but you can control your appearance.

First of all they are talking about 2nd generation. They are canadian's first than being desi's. If they are getting the same education, same environment what kind of deficiencies are we talking about. Every individual is different, thus his/her level would be different, so one might be more intelligent in one area and one in another.

The only thing you guys learn is to put us down. Just be happy that u didn't have to face racism.

If we had so many deficiencies, why is that educated desi's are making big salaries, are on high posts and actually most engineering companies specially IT sector are comprised of more than 25% of desi's.

Why does the US still want to allocate more H1 to India.

Or is it are you so afraid of these ppl. coming from India, that u put out these silly comments because you fear their level of skills because it might put you out off ur job.
