Hi Anand and Thinkingone,

Absolutely amazing confidence ... I would say this is the confidence everyone should have ... my aunt immigrated to Canada 2 years back ... even without any experience and being a housewife in India she had landed a white collar job in Sales.

Keep it up guys ... Khudos

Dear CD'S,

I've see lots of negative remarks about Canada. This is not good for future immigrants.

Why a negative remark is not good for future immigrants? Only if those remarks were false or made up, then yes, they are not good for them. However, if there is truth in those remarks, then don't you think it rather educates future immigrants and so is actually good for them.

Painting a rosier picture than factual situation can be more detrimental to a future immigrant than writing negative remarks, even if they were half truth!

Let me share some good positive point about Canada. Positive image about Canada. Well my exp was different in Canada. I did my schooling in England and worked in Europe for 4 years before moving to California. Then moved to Canada and landed in a good job in 2 weeks time. I worked all over canada as it was 75% travelling job. Now for the last 6 years working in both US and Canada and travelling all over the place. My wife is an Architect and she landed a job with http://www.fluor.com." rel="nofollow">LINK Well she did her masters in NY and worked in US for 2 years. Now she works for Flour both in US and Canada. I prefer Canada over US. Thats my personal choice. I know lot's of CD'S dont accept my point or my views. For your info i work as Resource Manager (Corporate and Consulting Recruitment) in IT and Engineering industry. My advice to all CD'S is work smart not hard. Do your home work well and sure you'll get what you want in life.

Thanks,

Anand16

Nowhere does it suggest that Canada is good - you have great qualities and so does your wife - and you guys would have been successful anywhere. However, the topic of your thread is 'positive points about Canada', which I do not see anywhere in your post - it is full of positive points about you as both, not Canada!

In terms of money, I wouldnt have earned in India, what I am getting right now. In India, I was getting 10 lacs+ p.a., and it might have taken additional 10 years to reach 35 lacs+ p.a.

About the dollar game, here is my equation

$ 9.75 (within 3 months) --> $18 (in 5 months) --> $30 (in 7 months) --> $40 (10 months) --> $45 (20 months)

Similarly for you Thinkingone - if you read between the lines, your post rather speaks negative about Canada because it shows that even a talented and young person like you who has a positive attitude and enthusiasm and experience in your field had to struggle for 2 years just to make it to a liveable salary level. Isn't it a surprise that a country takes more than two years to recognise your worth, while others do it the moment you land or sometimes even before that?

So I guess, it is working out fine for me. Rt now, I am 33. I got educated in India. Worked in India, USA, SA, Europe, Canada. Immigrated to Canada exactly two years ago, with family. Landed jobless. Hopes were crushed to the bottom. Full of frustration and negative thoughts for almost three initial months. Then first step - I cut off from leg-pulling community I was in, and started taking decisions on my own, with detailed home-work. Got into different fields which I never liked to work in. And guess what, If I get into my actual profession, I know, people are earning $100+ per hour... but well, I am not aiming that rt now. But I know, that day is not far away. btw, if any recruiter is looking at this, and got a commensurate job, I will send you my resume.

Once again, what is good about Canada that you have written about? It is only the good points about you as an individual that you have mentioned and I would encourage others to follow too - but nothing good about Canada. It again speaks negative of Canada where it made you struggle, change your professional, and finally put you back into it after two years!

Start a thread on negative points about Canada, you will find lot of points, I could contribute.

This sentence itself defeats the whole purpose of this thread - don't you think so?

Dear Chandresh, I had highlighted in my first line of post itself, that I am talking about money aspect only. The aspect taken as positive one for Canada.

Quote:

And actually I already wrote that I am yet to get something of my actual skills level, which I dont have rt now. My work-experience and academic background is still not recognized yet! I am working on these things. Inspite of great experience with Fortune 500 companies (at USA also), I was told the need of Canadian exp! Anyway, I am of the opinion that - An educated skilled professional, if coming to Canada, is a mistake. And after coming here, if going back, that s a blunder. Feel free to dissect this.

u r right. In my second post, I totally hijacked the thread, and realized that. That was the reason I said in next post - "More questions are welcome... I know that s not the intention of this thread though."

I am still struggling. Personally this struggle has made me a better person. Professionally, I dont think Canada is the right place for IT. But well then, my exposure to Canada is so limited, I cant say something like this with authority. However, looking at examples around me, gives me enough data to validate this.

It does, Again I would like to draw your attention to what I wrote as follows:
Quote:

because people have mindset to pick up things suiting their needs (pick up the rosy picture with lots of money etc), and ignore the real depressing moments and struggle

Generally, I am not very much used to dissect posts and reply back to justify my words. However I welcome anyone interested to ask precise questions openly or via PMs, and open new thread so that this thread is not totally hijacked.

Hope this helps.

Warm Regards.

Hi All,

I suppose having good exposure of working in Western countries also help in getting decent break in Canada.

Inspite of my work experience at USA and Europe, I was asked if I had any Canadian Work Exp. Not sure, to what extent, this works!

Hi CC,

We are still struggling. My wife is yet to get a good break inspite of being a Gold Medalist. I hope all educated people in Canada get into professions of their choice, and build Canada as our own country to live in.

Regards.
