Sorry, I can't seem to be able to get this fairy tale out of my head! I am mesmerized!! Hypnotized!!
Just some more questions:
1. GiG mentions that when he and his family landed they shared an "apartment with 3 families."
Just asking! I don't know. Does this really happen? I mean THREE FAMILIES in a 2 BR apartment?? Anyone else did the same??
2. GiG says -" They have MBO’s in Management and I gave myself a month".
What is MBO?? Or is it a new degree??
He "gave" himself a month for what?? To get a job? And what does that mean actually? Like what did he tell himself - "I will get a job within a month else I will.....?

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

If that kind of success had a formula like "qualified, educated permenant resident of this country who pays his taxes, obeys laws and contributes to the community ", then... sure...we all deserve to be there. Is that entitlement mentality a part of our problem?
**********************************************************
First of all after going through my post again I admit that it reeks of entitlement. Nobody nowhere is entitled to a decent job and standard of life regardless of qualifications and experience.
As to the other comments

Note that the success that you are talking about(including the house in Rosedale) is elusive even to *native* Canadian. So it takes an above average immigrant to be able to make it till there. Average people have average aspirations(immigrant or otherwise). Most *native* canadians, I know are those who are happy in a job in their field and call themselves successful.

I would say that an unusually high number of skilled immigrants are above average at what they do. Still the rate of success of above average immigrants is well below the rate of above average "native " Canadian. Even after they get into the workforce the percentage of immigrants in higher positions is abysmally low.
For a comparision of how well skilled immigrants are doing in a similar setting you just have to look south of the border.
In the final analysis, I guess a large portion of the blame rests on the immigrant who comes into this country unprepared and the high expectations immigrants have from this country. But by posting success stories which have more fluff than substance CD is doing more harm than good to help the cause of immigrants.

I have only 2 cents to contribute, not a cent more, not a cent less ;-)

Friends,
There is an old adage “The dogs bark while the caravan moves .” The feeling is the same here. I never realized that a success story like this one could generate furor. Not that I want to cast any aspersions or malign anyone, but the sordid fact is that when someone mentions the very word success, there are those few who are unwilling to accept that word.
Well, does it matter to me? Of course not! If it is Text book or a fairy tale, so be it. Why should I be bothered about it? Not that I have spent my valuable time writing in a fairy tale to gain attention. Neither do I need any adulations from anyone.
However it is indeed disheartening to note that instead of benefiting out of a story like this one, a few are keen to nitpick the flaws in the story!! I stand by my story but I have my own reasons to remain incognito.
As far as my friend jago-desi is concerned, you know that there is software called as Supervoice – wherein you can send a fax from your computer – no matter what time of the day it is!! You need not have a fax machine. All what you need is a telephone connection.
Adios amigos.
PS:
My sincere thanks to BL, MI and J3D for trying to get some semblance on the matter.
Shame on all the cry babies in this post
With such attitude , no wonder they are all losers in canada

MBO stands for Managment By Objectives. It is a standard and quite well ued acronym - the MBO concept can be located in any basic text book on Management.
