I loved Siddhartha. Its probably one of the few books I have read more than 2 times. Another book I recommend is "Man's search for meaning" by Victor Frankel.
I love alteverse (alternate universe). If interested I can suggest some great authors in that genre.

I am half way through " A Search in Secret India " by Paul Brunton. A must read to discover the spiritual side of India. Ramana Maharishi was introduced to the west after he met the Maharishi and wrote about his experiences.
I am reading Roots (Saga of an American Family) by Alex Haley. It's a story of a little boy, Kunta, growing up in a small village in Africa, his friends, his family and a small happy world of his own...until he finds himself on a ship being taken to the US as a slave.
Alex Haley claimed he was the seventh generation descendant of Kunta Kinte. I haven't finished it yet, but it has been a good read so far.
Read Chetan Bhagat's fourth book, Two States: The Story of My Marriage, during my trip to India last month. A very 'light', humorous read and much better than his third work, Three Mistakes of My Life.
Chetan, in spite of being a poor orator, is a wonderful story teller.
a book about a US woman marries to a chinese guy and their life together after the inter-race marriage...so far good...its "The Natural Laws of Good Luck"
