I had started reading "The Fine Balance" and found it so depressing ...left it half unread....anyone else read it ?
I also read Five love languages as recommended here, found it a good one.

Just finished reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Great book, gives you a true perspective of Afghani life and the turmoil they have seen through the years. Can't wait to see the movie.
It took me all of a day and a half to read Veil of Roses (I forget the authors name!) Good book, a light read, nothing too serious...but entertaining. The kind of book that will be made into a light hearted movie one day.
Now reading The Pakistani Bride by Bapsi Sidhwa.

I am currently reading 'Auschwitz - A new history' by Laurence Rees. It is very depressing but well written giving insight into the functioning of such camps.
Before this I read 'Kristallnacht - Prelude to destruction' about the excuse to why this started. It is a so so read.
Is the thousand splendid suns depressing? I think that it is so easy to shock a reader with miserable events through books. I prefer to pick books where the author has desisted the tempation to shock the reader.

Anyone read Devil May Care by Ian Fleming. Its a James Bond stuff. I almost picked it up at Costco, then thought let me check how it is.
I have borrowed the book A Thousand Splendid Suns. A bit hesitant to read as I hear it is strong and powreful. I am not sure if I want to read a dukhbhari kahani at this time. May be few days later.
