JRF, I have seen your msg. I will post the ref books list from home tonight itself.
Regards.
Hi,
What are the prospects for Civil Engineers doing PMI?
Hi Thinkingone,
Can u send me the list of reference books as well?
Thanks
If anyone is looking at appearing for the PMP exam, I'd say the PMBOK and Rita Mulcahy's book - PMP Exam Prep along with some Q banks are sufficient. I particularly like Rita's book, 'cause it goes hand-in-hand with the PMBOK, and most people will suggest that one.
Don't overload yourself with other material. There are tons of material out there. Having said that, if the reading is for another purpose, sure go ahead.
That does not mean that the other material will not help you in the exam. It's just that I find that there's only so much you read and grasp. Basically it's all the same material at a high level, each book covers one or more topics in details.

For PMP preparation, following books are highly recommended, in following order:
Guide to the Project management Body of knowledge 3rd Edition
PMP Exam prep book 5th edition Rita Mulcahy
PMI Code of conduct
Project management, The complete guide for every manager, Gray and Larson
For detail oriented readers, following are the additional books. Only certain chapters are of more importance in following books when one studies on a topic say time management, scope management, quality management etc. From the following books, read only certain chapters or pages, to remain focussed on PMP exam prep
.
Project Planning, Scheduling & Control, Lewis, James P.
Effective Project management, Wysocki/Beck Jr/Crane
The new project management, Frame J Davidson
Earned value project management, Flemming and Koppleman
Project management: A managerial approach, Meredith & Mantel
Project management: A systems approach to planning, scheduling & controlling, Kerzner
Quality management for projects and programs, Ireland
Principles of project management, Adams
Human resource skills for the project manager, Vijay Verma
Organizing projects for success, Vijay Verma
Project and program risk management, Max Wideman
I agree with Sudes's comment ....to me Rita's prep book is probably the best in the market(other than PMBOK) and her teaching and explanation style is great.
