I am a bit worried about the proceedings here:

I have applied for Work-permit extension through my company's lawyer and also have applied for PR on my own

Now, when I log-in at http://www.cic.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK using my client-id to check the status, it displays the mailing address as my lawyer's address as that was mentioned in my Work-permit extension application.

Now my question is:
Would all my mails for PR as well will go to Company's lawyer ?
Should I change that address to put my address so that all communication is addressed to me.I just called up CIC and they said that Work-permit extension has been approved and it's already been sent to my lawyer's address.

So that means if I change the address at CIC, that wouldn't do any harm…?

Please suggest…As I may be getting some post from Buffalo office related to my PR.

I've experience the same thing previously. The lawyers want to channel all communication thru them, so that they're in the loop and secondly they always have an upper hand.

Then why CIC website shows mailing address as my lawyer's address ???
I couldn't understand that ?

Now Though I have updated the mailing address on the website, they say that it may take another 10 days for the same....! So would that mean if they send any letter to me related to my PR it would go to the lawyer who processed my WP extension ??

That would be weird ..isn't it ? ..when I am not applying through any lawyer/consultant then how can they send any infor to that lawyer ?

And the problem is my company is not aware about my PR and that lawyer is company's lawyer (

Hi Rahul,
I faced the same problem. This is a problem with CIC.
Dont worry, change the address to yours. If lawyer gets something he wil contact you automatically or you can drop a mail few weeks later to ask if he got something for you from Buffalo.
When did u apply for imm & did u get ur medical ?

hi,
u can always change ur address online...they will usually take 10 days and then send u a letter for u to sign, that u confirm that u want your mailing address to be changed....that's an easy process.
