MR,
Please PM to me or e-mail me as to what kind of desi's have money. All the desi's that i have seen, are hand to mouth. There is a particular community of desi's in Canada that are doing extremely well but .... (i donot want to mention that here). Mostly their children are very well behaved. Even if they donot have a professional job they stick to the law. but you know, that is in Toronto and that particular community is doing well in Vancouver too. But what surprised me was when NA genealised that to Alberta (Esp. Edmonton and Calgary) and i wanted to know if the problem that he mentioned was really as big as he had claimed.

We don't say you can't come in because you're East Indian......

NRI teenager drive van into a NRI group of partiers following
a New Year's Eve in Calgary-
one died and serious injury to two others

Being East Indian in Edmonton hasn't been easy lately. First there were the drive-by shootings in Millwoods a year ago, after that everyone turned the other way and clutched their purses when we walked by

TK may not stick that all desis he has seen have hand to mouth situation.
I agree that desis have difficult begining in NA but most of them will be
well settled after few years.
I think we should compare cities for specific points.I think following are valid points for comparison.
Job Market for area(IT,Manufacturing,Oil etc)
Public transport
Real estate cost
Property tax cost
Property Insurance cost
Auto Insurance cost
Desi population
Weather
Health care
Auto Insurance cost
Taxes(state tax and sales tax)
Utility cost(heating,electricity,water,trash)
Quality of life
Misc topics
If we compare Calgary vs Toronto for above then I am sure it will help.

Nilesh

Just by few incidents, you cannot say that all desi's are bad or create problem. Just like what happenned in Ontario last week (8 people killed), you cannot say that particular community create problem. Most of the desi's or any other people are law abiding people and there will always be some people, who create problem. Such things had happened almost regularly in Greater Vancouver (where I think there is desi gangs, etc. problem the most) with all the communities like last week a guy was kidnapped on gun point in broad day light at public place. Crime is not related to any particular community and there are few bad people in all communities. Without any substantial data, don't try to blame desi/chinese, etc. etc.

I agree with Ash20.We cannot blame a particular community for such incidents.
Now get back to original discussion.
