Dear Experts,

I've applied for immigration to canada since 20month.
I would like to ask an Expert advise on the fact that if I claim french as my frist language and English as the second who that be a +ve factor for my application or not?

As according to the CIC Website, on the Home Page itself, it states Francophone immigration and when you enter this category. It speaks about promoting francophone immigrants to Canada.

Plse advise me how to enter this francophone category of immigrants & whether claiming french as the frst official language would be more helpful to the immigration procedures than English language as the first one.

Awaiting for your replies.

Thanks & Best regards

It depends from where u r applying ? If u r applying from India u can't claim that French is the official language anyways. Moreover even if u claim that u know French, they would still ask u to submit the TEF result. So if u claim High Proficiency in French, wud u be able to score 16 in TEF. I think u wud be able to answer that ur self.

Good luck !!

Plse note that the 16points for french & 8points for English has already been secured through TEF & IELTS.

What I wanted to know is that would I be considered as a francophone immigrant & have a priority over anglophone immigrant. Even though my mother tongue is not french.

Thanks ,
Asif

you'll have a slight edge because statistics do matter in the end [for CIC]. However, it won't put you ahead of the rest in terms of processing time.

Perhaps you should have applied under Quebec rules [if you qualify].

Thank you very much for your reply, it was the answer that I was looking for as I could determine who would form part of the francophone immigration category.

But would that be possible( if I get my visa for Canada), to first of all, land in (let's say Ontario) and then apply for a "certificat de selection du Quebec to move there?

Thanks.
