We will be eligible to apply for the Canadian Citizenship soon. Re the Language Test, does anyone know if it is required to be given again? Previous Language test records at the time of initial application, we have not maintained. Would appreciate input from any one who has recently applied or obtained citizenship.

Language classes
Permanent residents can take taxpayer-funded or private language classes to learn English or French once in Canada. Taxpayer-funded classes are offered by the federal, provincial and territorial governments across Canada and are free of charge. You will need to pay for private language classes.
Children and youth will learn English and French in school.
Taxpayer-funded language classes offer:
•general language classes at many levels.
•classes that teach advanced and workplace specific language skills.
•classes that teach literacy and language (for people who have a hard time reading and writing in any language).
•classes for people with special needs.
Registering for taxpayer-funded language classes
Before starting a class, you must first get an assessment to find out your current language skills. Visit a language assessment centre in your city and say that you are interested in taking language classes.
You can do a self-assessment test to find out your current language level before doing a formal language assessment.
To find information about other language training programs funded by the provinces or territories, visit the website for newcomers of the province or territory in which you live. You can also get information on all taxpayer-funded language training programs available to you from a local immigrant-serving organization.
Language proficiency tests and certificates
There are cases in which you may need to prove your ability in either English or French (for example, when you apply for a job or to get into a university or college). There are several language tests that are widely recognized. You will get a certificate of language proficiency that you can use for many purposes.
English language tests and certificates:
•International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
•Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP).
•Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL: commonly required by universities and colleges).
French language tests and certificates:
•Test d’évaluation de français (TEF).
•Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF).
You can also get information on these tests from some government language assessment centres or from private language schools.

Some certificates might need to get translated, if obtained in a different country in their language.
Under the present rules, I want to know if I have to give it again - rather if its mandatory to give or redo the English test again at the time of application of citizenship. We had done it earlier when we first applied for immigration.

4. Education Records
Provide photocopies of all your official education records if you attended an educational institution in the four (4) years immediately before the date of your application. Official education records are:
•report cards; or
•transcripts; or
•attendance records
The education records must cover each calendar year, if applicable. It is sufficient to submit one official education document per calendar year of schooling during the relevant four (4) year period. Note: You are not required to submit proof of attendance at English/French as a second language training programs.
In addition, provide photocopies of official education records for all children in Canada or abroad who were under the age of 18 in the last four (4) years immediately before the date of your application even if you are not applying for Canadian citizenship on their behalf. You must also provide documents for any children who are already Canadian citizens, if applicable.
Note: Student identification cards and letters from institutions, teachers, principals are not accepted as official education records. For example, an official transcript from an educational institution would satisfy this requirement. A letter from an institution is only acceptable in the following two circumstances:
1.Child has recently enrolled in school and a report card has not yet been issued
2.Child is being homeschooled (see below)

It states that if you have a post secondary cerificate clearly shows the program was completed in English then you don't need to but the convocation and HSC and SSC doesn't specifically show that its in English though it mentions in the mark sheet as English being the primary subject. No other courses done here lately.
What they wantto know is that the WHOLE course was conducted in ENGLISH/FRENCH, then it will satisfy their needs. It is not just taking ENGLISH subject and the other courses taught to you with a language that is local at that institution.
The only way it will satisfy them is when you can produce the proof of the medium of instructions made available to the students as mentioned in their School Brochure and or on the Certificate as issued to you.
THE CITIZENSHIP BOARD IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY IN DETERMINING IF THE CERTIFICATE ISSUED TO YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED OR NOT.
I can only point and whistle. You will have to take it up to the next or to the final step and make it valid and acceeptable by them. So, go to the school or get their pages on curriculum amd medium of instruction as appearing in their School Calendar or School brochures that are made available to you at the time of joining. Then after submission to the Citizenship Board, see if they will be satisfied with the materials provided to them. That should work.
