I have 2 MNC's (American name) on my resume. Recruiter called me for personal interview and later while discussing realised I have expereince with Indian partner. There reaction was, "So, you have worked for MNC - India". What sense does that make to you.

I am not sure I understand. Bargain? Like how?

Read the 4rth and 5th post in this thread. Of course nothing can be proved here. And nothing disproved (i.e. that it is a Myth).

I am not sure I understand this either.

Why not?

They were making sure I had Canadian Experience.

Perhaps you are trying to point out that questions are asked even if they are on the resume. I don't think I ever questioned that. An interviewer may ask anything and as many number of times. That is his prerogative. However, my question is about the need for communicating the reason s for rejection to the interviewee. Why would that be done when it is neither required nor a standard practice. Since no one has been actually TOLD that reason, it exists only as a supposition. Something that has not actually happened but continues to exist as if it has is a myth!

No not just that....In 4 years in US I was never asked what my education background was. Just a comparison that should make clear the context of why it is asked in Canada.

And why should it be considered as “implied”? What is it that is said or communicated that makes this implication so undisputable and obvious and precludes all other explanations for the same event.

Why shouldnt it????:D

I agree that I could never prove it. Other rejections could be on Technical background and / or communication, interpersnal skills.

This is one of those things. You'd have to go Through it.

An analogy, if you will permit me.

When a chick tells you "I will call you..." or vice versa after a date, you know the writing is on the wall. No "hard" reasons are given. Lots of things are implied. It could just be that one is not good looking, or has some annoying habit or whatever.

Anyways, nobody has said that it is the sole reason for rejection.

Lok what I am trying to say is that if the job does require an experience of having worked in this country, then it is just as well justified. As in the example I gave earlier, if the line of sales require that the candidate should have worked in Canada, there is absoluetly nothing wrong with it! But to say that hard core tech or IT jobs are not being offered to otherwise deserving guys because of no Canadian experience is not correct.

Most of the indians I have come across in North America are mostly IT guys and majority of them have (including me) have had issues with canadian experience. These are the same people who just cross the borders south into US and get six figure salaries without "American experience"

In your own experience, were you called for an interview, and at the end of it all explicitly told by an employer that the job could not be offered to you only because you did not have Canadian experience?

Or did you send an application and your resume against a posted requirement, and got a letter/phone call from them that they were not considering your application because you did not have Canadian experience?

With regard to the scenario south of the border, it cannot be compared with that in Canada. The economy is much larger and the needs for techies far greater than in this country. It is all a matter of demand and supply. If the Canadian requirements were to grow to the same level as that of the US, things would be good here too.

I have also seen posts on this site by people from India who had been offered jobs on work permits. That at least proves that this Canadian experience thing does not apply across the board.
