Hi:

My mom who became a Canadian PR in July 2014, has a US Visitor Visa for 10yrs which is expiring in August this year. I have done the online application and she has to appear for an interview next month in Toronto.

My questions to anyone having recent experience about this:

1. I believe you cannot take cellphones or car keys inside?
2. If you cannot converse in English or require assistance in walking, what were the options? (My mom uses a cane due to surgery and cannot communicate in English.
3. What documents did they actually ask at the inter?
4. Did you write any cover letter to the embassy?

Since my mom is visiting her sister and has an invitation letter from her, does she have to show any financial documentation? She has no income at all.

Thanks

Canadian Citizens do not need a Visa to enter into USA for visit or holidays.

Your Mother's relatives, Sister, can provide her with an Invitation letter and to take care of her during her stay there, please add that into it. Also she should carry a few dollars and coins as found necessary for her spending.

Also take an insurance policy to cover her for everything, even the pre-exixting conditions for the duration of her stay there. It will be well worth it.

As regards US Embassies, they will provide people with appointments, including invalids ramp and elevator facilities, plus other assistance as required, (Including guide dogs) if and when calls for the same. All of the entrants are subject to security checks and some places they also provide locker facilities for a nominal cost to store items if they are objectionable.

A recognized registered interpreter can accompany her if needed. But they must be suitably qualified for that and must have the command of both the languages to obtain such a job.

Hope this helps.

FH.

FH, the person is Canadian PR and not Canadian Citizen, so they will require a visa.

When requesting any kind of visa, you would be better off to show assets for the person getting the visa.

rajcanada and samna1978.. Missed seeing the first point. Still I hope you did get to read the details provided and the web link also.

If that was not sufficient, I will provide a lot more help in detail under this . Please go through this and check for verification.

you are visitor to Canada with your valid foreign passport (Note: if you apply, your appointment date may happen not earlier than 6 months from the application date.) Note: The final decision on granting visa is determined by visa officer during the interview.

You must present the following documents:

Your valid, machine-readable passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.

Original immigration documents showing your legal status in Canada e.g. your permanent resident card or current visa document with its validity period. If you were previously in the US, then, you must show your immigration documents from this period.

Official translations of all of the documents that are not written in English Language.

Details of any criminal records, If any, and US waivers and Canadian pardons if applicable.

US Government fee: $160, Please check.

You must take your DS-160 confirmation page, which contains your digital signature and a unique bar-code. In addition to this you must also present the MRV transaction fee as proof that your visa application to the US government has been paid for and copy of it.
DS..: Digital Signature.

You must adhere to strict Consulate rules, which prohibit you from bringing food, drinks, backpacks, luggage, purses, cell phones and ANY electronic equipment.

(Be very careful with your selection. Any misrepresentation of your status will lead to immediate file cancellation without any refund possible. All applicants, who are visitors to Canada may experience much longer wait for US visa interview.)

Regret missing the point that your Mom is only a PR.

Hope this will get you into USA and Back.

FH.
They also look for a few Civil Documents also. Those are considered as
Birth Certificate, Issued to her.
Ownership papers for a home. Automobile.
An Insurance Policy in her name with a beneficiary.
A return ticket, either OPEN or with a fixed date. Onward Journey ticket...
A bank account with a statement.
Employment Letter.
Utility Bills etc.,
And there are so many more. Please see if she can produce any or all of these.

Thanks. Will check and see.
The first time when she applied in India, they provided a translator there and no documents were checked at all. Just asked where and when and to whom are u going? What does the sister do? and they granted her 10yr visa.

Here things r different, but am worried for translator here.
