Yes, Fido, I agree with you here. Couldn't find the counterpoint - you beat me to it
.
Never intended to ... I hope it is not taken that way !!
Just shared what I felt looking at examples of successes here ... people who refused to accept dead end jobs or worked doubly hard to get out of them and also those who switched careers successfully ...
For sure it takes efforts ...lots of efforts but then you see water when you dig deep enough into the rocks also
And yet I am unable to understand the beggars and panhandlers here except perhaps being lazy and getting easy money .... You see a spot being shared by different people at different times some times ...
You feed them , you feed their laziness and insult those who are slogging to earn deserved money.

Don't worry, taken in the right spirit.
My comments was more towards the newcomers' plight and to find whatever is being offered initially, and when they land. Because, this is what their launching vehicle is. Working in a call-centre is not a bad thing. One, it gives you a proper office experience, it's not an odd job, provides good references, working in a comfortable work setting; and top it all, it gives your communication /listening skills a much needed boost. I deemed it as a paid-training
.
