Compared to a country like Canada, there is too much of idol worship of netas, a VIP culture that thrives on corruption.

Mahatma said India would have won real freedom, only when women walk alone and without fear even at midnight.

Similarly, real good 'development' would happen to India only when we kill this VIP culture.

If we can ask simple.question as why we came to Canada leaving our job, family, friends or what we like about Canada as compare to India, we will get an answer for "what are Acche din".

Isn't is obvious that "acche din" would mean different things to different people? And do you need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that you can never make everyone happy? Obama's slogan was "Yes we can". What does this mean?

For your points above, why can't it be both? Your post seems to indicate that somehow private corporations progress or infrastructure progress on roads, malls and private hospitals is bad, while the other stuff is good.

'Acche din' should mean a collective progress for the common man and not for the industrialists who funded NaMo's campaign .

During his campaign I was reading that Adanis and Ambanis spent millions in providing him the support and finances needed for campaigning ... Recall that due to the industrialist sponsored choppers , NaMo was able to return back to his home every day.

And then there was this news flash , some months back that SBI was considering a loan of 2500 cr. to Adanis till the matter was brought to fore by the Opposition...

Acche din kise aayein hai ... ya kiske liyen hain ... it is no brainer.

Policy decisions would be made to benefit the Industrialist designs at the country's expense..

In 9 months there s a new birth , what progress & signs are we seeing for common man's progress so far ???

There was this promise that thousands of crores of black money would be brought back to India .... what's happening of that promise I wonder ..... Why is it not being intensely pursued upon ????

What has been done as policy changes in the past 10 months which may show signs of change for the good of a common man ???

All the rest are words ... it only takes a tongue to wag them .

There was a lot of hue and cry for the 'ghar wapasi' thing but why is there no hue & cry for the development strategies & policies being put into place for economic development which will benefit the common man ???

Maybe one case does not mean much but when 50% of respondents say that corruption has reduced in Delhi , I guess it means something.

It just takes sincerity of the top most people to start effecting a change .... for sure it will take some time to cascade it through the system & at lower levels .... but the effective starting push has to come from the top to make a change happen.

Do you believe all such surveys? Here's one that I googled in 4 seconds
http://www.firstpost.com/world/chinese-survey-ranks-modi-ahead-xi-handling-domestic-foreign-affairs-2162391.html

Let's revisit in June. If I see any major crime headlines, I'll ask question like Febpreet did "Let's see Kejriwal fix this". I hope no such thing happens and Delhi is crime free by that time, but if it does not happen, you guys can explain that. Everything else is just rhetoric.

Kejriwal has a much smaller mandate than Modi anyways, so should be much easier for him.

No Sire, when he used the Acche Din, he did it to address 'common man' issues on the ground. However, what lied ahead after the elections were over were completely different. Shows BJP is Congress' distant cousin. They sprinkled a bit of 'religious' spice to it, as they always do.

Just like 'Yes, we can', the Acche Din was a hollow promise.

I am a believer in Gandhian ideology, and quote this for the benefit of Modi, in case he may have forgotten the real meaning of 'Acche Din':

"I will give you a Talisman. Whenever you are in doubt or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test: Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him. Will he gain anything by it? Will it restore him to control over his own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to Swaraj for hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and yourself melting away."

I don't have any issues with the 'Acche Din' for both poor and rich. But, here looks like it's only benefiting the Rich in a broader perspective.

The sooner you realize Modi is no Mahatma and 'Har Har', sooner the sanity prevails.
