DESI student Ravi who secretly webcammed his gay roommates sexual encounter an
D posted it on iChat and also announced it on twitter has been found guilty.
His roommate committed suicide and now this historic verdict.
This is going to set a precedence of how we use the social media.

Shear bad luck ! thousands of pranks are played by youngsters of his age living in dorms and hostels, its a different adrenaline, teens are sometimes knowingly stupid for fun sake, every prank for sure is privacy invasion case and can easily be termed as hate crime. He got unlucky because Tyler was weak headed. Even Tyler's mother rejected his 'gaymanship' and showed disappointment. Is she not guilty , unintentional add up to his misery ?.
No doubt Ravi committed felony, so does many others of similar nature. What will you say for the hateful comments people leave on youtube videos ? interesting times these are !

Agreed. Phew, I am glad I am not the only one to feel like this.
If this were a straight guy, I don't think there wouldn't have been the same amount of ruckus and the punishment as severe. The law enforcement establishment seems to be pushing the laws to extreme in this case. Be it privacy law, hate crime law and immigration law. Media-driven witch hunting prevailed in this case and he as been made an example for all to see.
I don't condone the perp, he certainly deserves to do time. I will even concede he deserves the severity of punishment, IF it were consistent with all other similar crime. Many hardened killers are shown more leniency.
