I have been asked to provide police clearance certificate from India. I am trying to accquire it through my parents in India. The question i have is that should the police certificate be issued from the last place/city i resided in India or can it issued from the city where my parents are currently residing. I was lastly residing in Ahmedabad but now my parents live in Bangalore.

Please advise.

If you contact the Indian Embassy in USA, they can issue the PCC.

I think Suryacan is right. If you've got a passport that was issued/renewed in say USA then the Indian consulate in USA can issue a PCC in a couple of days time. However, if the passport is issued in India and you're currently living in USA then you can still go through the Indian embassy in USA but it would take quite some time - apparantly, the Indian embassy has to go the confirmation from India.

This was the story that was told to me 2 years back when I applied for a PCC in London, UK. Lucilly in my case, my passport was renewed in London only a month back and hence I was able to get a PCC on the same day. Best of luck

I got my PCC from indian counsulate in New York and my passport was issued in Hongkong.
They took 2 weeks and $30 to mail it to me.

Personal Experience --It s easier 2 get a PCC issued 4m and Indian Consulate abroad rather than getting it done in India .Ironical but True .

It may cost u slightly more but saves u from Red Tapeism and repeated visits tothe PO .
