I have lived many part of the word. I never lived any country more than 3 year. I did my engineering in India, I started working in India and with my Job experience I got job in Europe as well as in Canada and USA.
I always moved to any country when I had decent job there and I was permanent employee for that particular country(not consultant).

In my first 10 year of job , only motivation I had was to take as much knowledge what I can get, so I never thought about PR, citizenship etc before.

After living 7 year abroad I moved back to India. I am electronics engineer so Bangalore was the city where I got job.

When I moved back to India, last salary I got from Canada was ~92K + 2K bonus = $ 94K CAD ( 2009).

Now in India I have Job Salary+PF+Bonus = ~30Lakh
My condition in India

1) Now I am married, and my wife is happy in India( But she never lived abroad so she might like there as well, who knows, but she don't want to go outside India as of now)
2) I pay around 20K rent, and live in posh society , so no problem of Bijali, pani
3) I pay 3500/- for one time maid and cook
4) Cleaning the car I spent 500/- for whole month.
5) Total expenditure a month easily crossing 1 lakh a month
6) I can frequently visit my parent and vice versa
7) Weather In Bangalore is excellent

Problem definition
Traffic condition is horrible
Row/town house costing from 1.5 crore – 2.5 crore , ~ 1700 square feet land area.( which I can’t afford which my present salary)
Good apartment is costing 90 lakh for ~2000 sqaure feet.
Maintaining the high end car is bit expensive in India.
My saving is not even half as compared to what I use to have abroad.

So far I never cared about money at all but now I am married, I want to buy house not apartment. also I have to plan for kids and all.

Sometimes I think, I should go back outside India work for couple of year, save money and come back? But again after 5 year when I want to come back will I get decent job back in India as I struggled 1 whole year to get good position when I moved back this time.

I think my priority changed now so I got confused :( .

Excellent post thank you. Welcome to the CD club..Confused Desis club. The problems that you defined are probably common factors no matter where you go.
E.g. if you move to Toronto or NY with the sal of $100K you will face the same issue, Traffic Jams, high cost of maintaining vehicle and expensive accommodations. If you have stable job, with that kind of sal I would have stayed there in India only. Not sure how long you have been in India, but I would say give it a year or two and try to learn the tricks where you can save more. Buy a house immediately since that will give you a tax break on interest (like in US).
Now you prolly saved some buks over here because your lifestyle on move is bit different than the one when you are settled. You can afford to be stingy on move, but issues pop up when you try to settle.

Good luck!

It would be interesting to see how many people are able to immigrate to Canada, save money and then go back to India!

In Indian currency, your salary would be around 43 lakhs in Canada before taxes. How you would be able to save more with only 43% more salary as compared to India when you will pay more income tax, pay 13% tax on everything you buy, and everything is going to cost a lot more as compared to India. Unless you live a lower lifestyle as compared to India, I do not see how you would be able to save money.

You can immigrate for a better infrastructure, cleaner air, etc.

Thanks Manser,

I stayed little more than year now but for almost a year I was not around 30Lac, this boost I just got after changing the job and it's been to 3 month now. My Job is pretty stable and I m at good position. Job wise Bangalore market is doing good.

*One thing I don't understand is Luxury car cost 2-3 times in India. So the electronics item. I think North american system has design a such a way you might have high life style.

*Like here when I baught iphone it costed me 36K INR, service provider is cheap though.
*Same specification TV costed me more than 1 lac, which I hardly paid 1300 CAD in Canada.

You are 100% correct, when I was single my life style was bit different than what I have now.

I am not saying my salary is low here but by looking at housing price and all I just got question who is buying those expensive property ?

When u r earning 30L in india, Why wud u think of any other country???

I doubt in ur earlier tenure u lived real life in foreign countries - may be u were the guest of the companies where u worked, or u lived in shared accomodation near ur work. Hence did not get exposure to real living expenses in foreign countries.

If u move at this time to any other country, ur wife will have to work. Ur kids get less parential time. and ur savings will certainly be less than u have in india.

Also, if u r living in inida, all ur expensenes of 1L are getting back into indian economy and giving jobs to many other people. U r unawarely helping many poor kids to go to school and in foreing countries ur kids will become more neglected because of ur moving decision.

so, STAY BACK IN INDIA and donot let the thoughts of CONFUSION enter into your brian.

You can!..look at it this way..if you would have been earning 100K over here you would have easily bought a house worth 400K i.e. approx 2 crore. Now that being said here you don;t get tax break on interest whereas in India you can very well get that break. So if you buy a house now..you could save a lot on taxes. Electronics...They are expensive here than US..so we always complain. You did not hesitate buying unlocked iphone in India, but even if it is say $600 (3G) you will not buy it on sal of 100K (especially when you have kids).
So get an idea, you are having a good life there give it another year or so.

Good luck!

PS: If there is another similar opportunity do let me know and who know I might join you there.
