Hi folks

I am travelling alone with my infant (7 months) old through Etihad Airways. So wanted to know which kind of stroller is advisable? The one which I am using right now here is ok or Do i need to purchase another one which is light in weight and easy to carry?? If I can use the same stroller which I am using right now theh what will happen to car sear? do I need to carry both??

I have no idea about it and I couldnt find specific answer about the stroller and car seat in any previous post so please guide me.

Thanks in advance

hi...

you can take the stroller with you...they take your stroller when u check ur luggage and its not counted as additional item...the car seat u might be able to take it with you depending if you have booked an additional seat for your child...if not then you can take the car seat till you board the plane...the air hostess takes the car seat once u enter the plane and gives you back when u leave the plane....during the flight they give u the front row seat with a crib attached to it for the child to sleep..i hope you had mentioned the airlines that you are traveling with an infant cause they need to know that to book you the front row seat...hope this helps..

Hi Rainforest,

Yes...you can take the same stroller that you are using here...but when we went we did not take the stroller as it was difficult to maneuver the stroller in small streets of india and crowded places...we preferred to travel with him in arms but we did take the car seat as he was used to sleeping in the car seat and its easy to carry it hand than push the stroller...but our son never slept in the sleeping cot and always preferred to sleep in arms..i think depends from child to child...let me know if you any more questions and all the best for your trip...

Hi Nishant 3112

Thank you very much for your reply.. At present I am using Graco Stroller and Graco car seat. If I take same with me then I am afraid they may consider stroller as one piece of luggage and another problem is where to keep car seat? in aircraft only?? I am really confused .. I may consider buying another light weight stroller.....not sure though.. will wait for your reply..

hello rainforest,

Like i said, the stroller is not counted as an extra piece of luggage, but you can confirm that with ur airlines as diff airlines have diff rules...the car seat is taken care by the air hostess when u enter the plane, not sure where they keep it but you have to remind them after u leave the plane and they will get it to you...usually they place it near the door of the plane so you cannot miss it...but make sure to remind them to bring ur car seat back...as for the stroller, it comes out with your regular luggage on the conveyor belt....i would advice you to take a cheaper and light weight stroller as there are instances of stroller being mishandled or misplaced...also remember to tag ur stroller as well as your car seat..

Hi, you don't need to carry both (the stroller and the car seat). Car Seat is needed when you have bought a seat for the child, on plane seat car seat is placed. In your case travel with a light weight stroller and have the baby on lap (they give you a extra long belt to buckle up mom and baby together).

On Return request the airline to provide you the bassinet (crib), they do provide for kids under 2 yrs so I'm surprised why they said baby is going to be 10 mths, but could depend upon airline to airline.

In India the strollers are used in plenty, depending on the city you go, I'm from Delhi and most of the malls, restaurants we visited we used the stroller, it can't be used for Karol Bagh type (ethnic Indian bazaars).

Hope this helps.................Jona
