Hi Dear Memebers ,

What are the step to apply for CHILD TAX Benefit.....

We got some paper on landing ( forms on child tax benefit ).

my advise to you will be consult a C.A or an accountant, because ours was rejected because of last year income. they will guide you better. Contact reynold mathias 416-566-0776.

Applying for CTB is a very straight forward process. Fill in the forms (RC66 - CCTB Application Form along with RC66SCH - Status in Canada / Statement of Income) and send it in. You need to convert your world-wide income (into CND) for the calendar year 2008 and provide the details in the form. Children under 16 are eligible for CTB.

The amount of CTB paid is based on your income for the previous year. CTB is paid on a monthly basis starting July until June (of the following year).

gopalpai - I suggest you call the Customer Service line and ask them the reason for rejection. They are very helpful. They may ask for additional details, and you'd have to re-submit the form. You do not need the services of a CA for this.

Yes, Child benefit tax is very straight forward. We did ours when we came and have already been credited some amount. It can be done by following the instructions on the forms itself.

we also thought it is very easy process and filled the income part and send them. They are asking income but what about expenses.you know in gulf half of your salary goes in house rent and 10 to 25% goes in children education. so, what we do, we gave gross income including HRA and allowances which is wrong. Here I feel C.A. is right person to guide.
