Let me share you guys some more on SAP FA role.
There is a common perception that you will be highly paid with SAP func jobs. Please note that SAP func role is quite different from any other IT applications. Salary could vary from $50K to $120k (on permanent non management level) and 40/hr to 250/hr (independent consultant).
You need following skills to earn high $$$:
1- Excellent presentation skill: You have to facilitate meetings with Sr Management (both business and IT) as well as with your project team
2-Analytical and problem solving skill - It's just not debugging customized SAP programs .... much much more than that!
3- Good knowledge on process: In earlier days most of Graduate Engineers got into SAP with good industry experience. Outside FI/CO and HR modules you need industry experience to be a good func analyst.
Regarding training I don't have any idea about SAP training institutes in Canada (outside SAP AG) but some of the CBTs available in market will be good to start some basic training.
This one I checked some time back (desi owner) and looked good to me:

Regarding online access you can search in Google :

I actually bought IDEAS CDs(SAP formal training environment in eBay (I paid around USD 50 including 1 CBT on MM) a year back to teach my wife but couldn't load as it wasn't compatible in Vista or XP.It works great in Windows 2000 though. Let me find out whether any more items available in Ebay and will let you guys know.
If you have SAP maketplace access you can download IDEAS software free of charge.
These are the best SAP user forums .I am active member in both. You will get some good information out there.

You can even get exposed into real project issues and try out yourself in test environment(practice step # 2)

Hi Ani
What would you recommend to the a person who
1.is already working on SAP for 3-4 years as enduser
2. Undergone inhouse enduser training from the company,
3.Making around 70K p.a. currently
Will normal CBT Training along with few practical tutorials are good to obtain certification and Will this certification help in improving the salary range?
Thanks Ani
If you are already in SAP for 3-4 years I don't see much benefit in getting SAP formal certification(it's good for contractor job though where you can ask for a better rate). You should rather concentrate on your project implementation experience(different industry/process areas) and improve your process knowledge/presentation skill to get into higher salary bracket.
Frankly speaking whenever we take interview we always look for those 2 skills(alongwith attitude, team player etc).Lot of times we ended up rejecting most technically sound person as those other critical skills were missing.

Currently working as enduser, however want to switch over to Functional consultant role to gain project implementation experiance and to move to higher salary bracket.
In order to go for Project implementation, Is it not ncessary to have certification? And considering Training just to gain more detailed knowledge which will assist in certification.
What would you suggest?
Thanks Ani
I thought you're working as a SAP super user/BA with more exposure to project. If you are working as an end user I am presuming you have good idea at transaction level(at least in your func area).
If you would like to get into SAP Func role directly from end user role SAP ceritification will definately help you.By preparing for SAP ceritificatioon you'll be able to gather more knowledge on that specific module. With SAP certification you can tranfer to SAP func role within your current organization with a good salary jump.

If you can provide additional input regarding Training and practical of $ 50 a month etc that would be great.
Thanks again to both Ani and Kabutar 12.
Hi All
What about SAP” functional consultant"
Would u please put some light on Functional consultant role in SAP ?
what modules fits best as a SAP Functional Consultant?
Is it required to have more exp before to be a SAP Functional consultant..?
I am looking towards learn only what is going on, how it is done from the client's point of view, or how it is customized, but not how it is done through the use of programming languages (ABAP or Java).
I am sure that for many of you this question might sound very immature and kiddish..... sorry for that
