Just a quick note- to see if you or your referral may be qualified, interested and available in two (2) Junior Business Analyst opportunities ;

One in a permanent role,
One for a contract 12 months with our client West Toronto - Financial Services Industry - Canadian Leader.
These are great positions for Junior/Intermediate Business Analysts (total of 2-3 years experience just fine) who have good experience using VISIO (including MS Project);

These B/As will be working with Business Stakeholders in business automation projects, including using knowledge of library/document management, change request management, user acceptance testing, and who are capable of providing second level support to applications. These Business Analysts will become the SME /Subject Matter experts for their area of responsibility.

Start circa end February/2006 and salary is up to $50,000/year; contract rate up to $30.00/hr!! (Interviews next week with Business Manager).

Below is an overview of this role:

Business Analyst

Junior (2+ years experience)

2 required: Permanent & Contract (1year)

$50k & $30/hour

Position Mandate;

This Business area provides services to the business in the further development of internal business applications. The business analyst plays an important role by working with a business group on understand what their needs may be in changing an application to solve business problems. The business analyst work with the business to ensure the appropriate detail documentation is created and the submitted into the technology groups for sizing and scheduling according to business priorities. The business analyst would be known for being a subject matter expert in one or more applications.

Key Responsibilities

· Determine and document the business requirements for changes requests and business requirements

· Facilitate sessions with the business in order to properly understand the business problem(s), what needs to be change in the business applications

· Act as the subject matter expert on the applications that you are responsible for

· Ensure the library of documents related to this application within the team are current and up to date

· Work with the technology department to prioritize requests, tracking, issue and risk management association with the applications that you are the subject matter expert on

· Responsible for the submission and tracking of all change requests and requirements documents including ones for sizing and prioritization

· Assist with the collection and analysis of business cases to support requests into technology as required

· Ensure walkthroughs and signoff have been completed

· Support user acceptance testing of applications changes as required

· Provide 2nd level support of applications issues and problems as required

Qualifications

· Experience as a liaison between business and technology groups

· Knowledge of application change management process or methodology

· Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills

· Strong communication abilities including the ability to facility large groups

· Capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks at a time

· Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision

· Highly organized with a focus on quality

· Strong written and computer skills required - Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Project)

· 2+ years involvement in working in a business environment

Interview process:
One interview with Business Manager and their colleague.
Permanent Hire - will likely involve additional interviews (Human Resources).
Hire to start asap.

This is a job opportunity for IT folks. I have given all the details so if you are interested please contact the person mentioned in the post I think his name is David Smith. I get lot of e-mails asking if I know anybody who is interested in an IT job.

Sorry Lana,

I did not enquire regarding the job. My query was regardng the last sentence in ad. What does that mean in the industry.

It simple means you have to justify why you are right for the job e.g. I have 3 yrs experience in similar capacity at such & such comapny etc. or anything that shows you are qualified for the job.

Is it normal to ask you your consulting rate when they interview you for a job?

Hourly rate / Salary discussion can happen at different times in the interview process. Some companies would like to know it upfront to ensure that they are not wasting their and your time. Since this guy is recruiter and it is a Jr. position he is going to want to know what rate / salary upfront so that he does not send candidates who are selected based on their experience and qualification but reject the offer because of money. Some companies who know they offer very good rate in the market will not bother to ask you rate / salary upfront but will start talking about it only if they like your qualification and experience.
