I am looking to buy some furniture like wood platform bed , sofa , wood dining set etc. Can CDs share their knowledge on areas / shops in the GTA selling furniture at reasonable prices (not like Brick / Leons ).
I am hesitant in buying pressed wood items . Never visited Ikea ... wonder if they sell only pressed wood items or natural wood as well .
Thanks.

Fido.
I have sent you a PM, call me to discuss..
Note: I am not a furniture retailer, just someone like you who was looking for furniture and bought some last year!

Fido,
IKEA is good but only if you plan to use it for max. 2 years and throw them away. IKEA beds are not studry at all. SOfa's and other items are good.
Another cheap option is to visist the Punjabi furniture companies along Dundas street between Hurontario and 427 (In Mississuaga). You will get good deals + free transport and delivery.
Another one is an Indian shop at Islington and 401. It is inside the rexdale mall. Sofas (3 piece cloth ones-Toral 6 seats) are $299 (with no tax). Other items are also cheap and available there. He will help to arrange for Van/ truck to deliver but will not do it himself (unless you buy for atleast $800 and above).
Other options are to look at Kijiji and look for someone who needs to sell unused furniture.
Hope this helps.
Peace

Keep away from this furniture store (Noble Furniture) in the Mississauga Flea market, at the intersection of Mavis/Dundas.
The owner is a sardarji, sold a coffee table to a frind of mine, (said its new, but it was refurbished), the table broke within 7 days, and when my friend went to complain, the owner flatly refused to compensate, saying that the item was not bought from his store. The table was bought for $120, paid in cash, no receipt.
We desis.................

Buyer Beware .
Thanks for the posts and suggestions TK , G13 & Sumjo . I will visit the stores mentioned this weekend . I am looking for a sturdy wood platform bed (and a good futon mattress ... any ideas where can I shop for a good one) - I have found that a harder bed gives me more comfort .
Plus a wood dining set of 4 chairs and a table . It appears that with the onset of pressed wood , natural wood furniture's availability is scarce ....... looking forward to more suggestion / advice . Thanks .

Fido.
Hello Fido,
I also bought my sofa ,matress and a cabinet from the same store in Rexdale Mall as mentioned above by TK.
I got sofa for $399 Matress for $80 and Cabinet for $130. We made sure that we get new and intact stuff. I am not sure but they do have another showroom in GTA. We didn't go for heavy duty/fancy/expensive stuff coz we have small kids jumping around and spilling things and are happy with what we got.Its been almost 1 year now!
Happy shopping!
