Today I came home to find a strange car in my driveway. After talking to neighbours and ensuring that no one knows about it, I called the towing company to tow it at owners expense. But they said they will tow it only if I pay and directed me to the city. I called city hall and they directed me to Police. Police said they can't do anything and advised me to put a 'no parking or else will be towed' warning sign and then if some one parks, tow it! I called CAA, but they declined to tow as it is not my car.
Any one knows what can be really done?
{Anyways after all these, I decided to move the car myself and was trying to open the door. Seeing that, the "desi" guy who was standing across the road at the busstop came by and took the car! He was seeing all the action all this while (which took about 30 mins) and said he had to run to the nearby clinic on an emergency. When we pointed out that we did see him standing there all this while, he just smiled, said Sorry and tried friendly talk and went as if nothing happened! }
Issue solved for today, but is there nothing I can do?
Next time, simply park your car by blocking the other car's exit access. I did that once. It inconveniences the owner plus forces the owner to find you and explain the situation. Then you can either be stern or give a friendly sorry. In my case, it just turned out to be another guy who needed an off-dirt location to park for a while in our, at that time, new construction sub division.

Unfortunately the only way I can do it is by blocking the ped. walkway too... hence that is not an option :-(
If this hasn't happened out of ignorance, such a bad thing. What if you had an emergency, I still feel the Police should pitch in and cut the tickets and support towing the vehicle.
Mine being a corner house, when people need to take a U-turn they just coolly drive half way through my drive way and pull back to proceed. I am not much bothered, it irritates though. Is it Legal for them to drive half way through my drive way and pull back ?

Suing for a few hundred bucks is going to cost me more in terms of time. Anyways I am putting up the no parking sign Police mentioned yesterday. Cost me around $10 at Canadian tire! Hope that deters.

Your only recourse was to have the car towed at your expense and then sue the owner for that amount, plus the fees for your parking on the street, plus the inconvenience.

No trees were killed by this post, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
