We (me and my wife) just moved to Vancouver and we were wondering if there are any Telugu speaking people in and around Vancouver and Burnaby areas.

We live in East 41st Avenue , Vancouver.

We would really appreciate if any member on the forum can provide some info or point to any links about Telugu community so that we can join a group or association in Vancouver.

Hi Weldall..

What is wrong in looking for Telugu comunity, when all other's are asking for their comunites to intigrate and find moral support to network.

hope my feeling are not efending any comunity.

Looks like Telugu speaking people in Vancouver area are not many. http://www.gvrd.bc.ca/growth/keyfacts/bymoth.htm

You may contact Telugu Association of Greater Toronto http://www.telugutoronto.com/ for info on finding Telugu people in Vancouver.

You may try to contact persons associated with the screening of Telugu cinemas in Vancouver http://www.telugucinema.com/c/publish/USAschedules/thisweekinusa.php

Yes.We are interested to take part in community celebrations/ festivals like Ugadi,Sankranthi,Deepavali,Dusserra etc.etc.

I think you will find that the indian community in BC isnt as large as the community in Ontario. There seems to be a disporportionate amount of north indians (ie punjabi). I may be wrong - this is just my opinion.

You may wish to contact the nearest hindu temple to your home. Dussera, diwali etc are celebrated here.
