I have recently purchased a house, and there is no fence in the backyard. How do I decide the exact bondaries of my lot, so as to be sure before errecting fence.

Also please advise that is my neighbour supposed to pay 50% expenditure of errecting fence; and if yes then what are my alternatives if he refuses to contribute?

- ask the muncipality. they will come and do it for you or you can ask the builder as well.

- nothing. you can not force him to pay. Talk to him

he is FORCED to pay you 1/2 the equivalent cost of a simple chain-link fence.

(not some fancy cedar fence)

The neighbour is not obliged to pay 50% of the cost. My neighbour refused, and I had no choice buy to pay 100%

And remember you need a permit from the city to erect the fence.
