I did not miss it .... We do have Search there but we also have it additionally as its a major item .
Similarly , I felt that in addition to the menu if it could be put in the left hand corner along with / above Log Off it would add on to user convenience as being a highly used link.
Alternatively having the My Messages part somewhere above may also serve the same purpose.
Having a single lined menu may probably add on to aesthatics .

I dont want to be a party pooper, but I liked the original format.
Although this format allows you to see both new posts and latest replies together, it just looks busy, and too 'wordy'.
The other format looked 'simpler'.

To avoid New Posts on already discussed topics :
in additon to placing the Search feature in center as already acomplished , can we adopt the following :
After a user clicks on the New Post button , popping up a prompt reminding of using the 'search in charcha' feature and directing him to it .... Generally a person gives more attention to a prompt then something static......

Good to hear the other opinion. Interestingly the original format looked wordy to others. So it would be really hard to manage things, especially in the discussion forum.
Do you have any suggestion, like what should be removed in order to make it less crowded?
