There seems to be something wrong - I went looking and was able to easily find 220v adapters for 110v appliances, i.e. North American appliances can be used in Europe/Asia.
However, I haven't been able to find anything that does the reverse i.e. enable an Indian 220v appliance to be used in North America 110v.
An electronics store owner told me that it's easy to bring down 220v to 110v, however, nothing exists that can increase 110v to 220v.
Surely, I am missing something.

The store owner does not have enough knowledge.
Both devices exist, I have both at home, as I have a mix of applicances from Middle-East and N.A.
Adaptors that step up or step down voltage are very common since many years.......

Hi Patrick,
First check the voltage rating of your charger. In most case they operate on 110~240V - so all you might need is flat to round pin convertor - easily found in walmart, canadian tire, circuit city etc...
If you indeed need an upconvertor, try small desi electronic stores in the your nearest mall / strip plaza...9/10 times they have the required product. Dont be discouraged if a few of them say to the contrary. I found one in an electronic boutique in scarborough for $20.00. If scarborough is too far away.. the 'House of 220' on gerrard is your best bet. Google for location. Also check for few other links in charcha, has been discussed quite a few times before.
