Hi Friends, I have landed in 2003 and I lived here in Canada for 6 months. As usual I had a hard time getting job so I had to go back to US for my job. I got a job in Michigan, I stayed there for 7 months and moved back to windsor. By the time I had a baby born in US. From 2004 Sep I am living in windsor. 2005 march i went to OHIP office to check some info regarding applying Health card for my kid, they were asking so many questions and they took my and my wife's health card and cacelled it. They told me that I have not lived in Canada for the past 7months and I had gone to India from US. (I did travel to India from US because the tickets were provided by my employer which only allows me to originate the travel from US. I have invoices and necessary proof to prove it) they asked me to get back to them with all the residency proof which i submitted in May 2006 and waiting.

In the meantime, I had a query for my 2003 tax return that i have to pay $10,000 which I know its mistake on their side and I have submitted necessary documents to waive that fee. But because of these back and forth communication, I dont have my assessement papers yet.

Now I am eligible to apply for citizenship in 6 months time. Right now I dont have Health card nor my assessment papers. But I have properly paid my taxes and filed tax returns.

In this situation, do i have to wait until i get my health card and assessment papers to go for citizenship or is it advisable to go anyway.

Will they see whether i have health cards or not? I am not sure about the health cards but i am sure that i will get my assessment papers in few weeks.

I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks buddies.

So for I have stayed, 6 months in 2003 and i am staying in canada from Sep 2004 till now (2 years). In 6 months time, i will get my eligibility to apply for citizenship.

Well, You should apply for citizenship whenever you are eligible and they would do their background checks and if they want any info they will ask you for it in the form of a residency questionaire.

I would not worry about this too much

Thank you for the reply. If any reason I dont get my health card before I apply for citizenship, what should I do to attach two ID cards. I have Drivers License how should I manage for another ID??

Health card has got nothing to do with citizenship, they are two completely different issues handled by different departments.if you have paid the taxes indicated on your T4 you should have got your assessment. You are moving and travelling in and out of the US and visiting india. Do you have your PR card, SIN with you.
It is very difficult for anybody to believe that you have continously stayed in canada. you trying to get a canada health card for your kid born in the US gives the impression that you just want to utilise the health system paid for by canadians but not catually stay, pay for it. there is no official record that you have paid taxes.Do not try to bypass, approcah the CIC and make out an application and state your concerns tuthfully, you may get help, if not face the consequence.
