Why does it always have to be a 'cheap motel', why not a decent and an economical place to stay?

Just wondering....what is with us Indians and 'cheapness'? We never tip the waiter who served us well, nor the cabbie who was decent enough to get the two heavy suitcases out of the trunk we brought from back home. Why are we always looking for 'free stuff'? If we have the time, money and energy to move to North America, why don't we have the decency of getting ourselves accustomed to the culture here?

And its not even about living or moving to North America, we just cannot appreciate any services provided to us back home either. Why?? when are we gonna get rid of the word 'cheap'? When exactly??

Please Try for avalability at this location. Good only till the 15th Aug., as the university prepares them for the next start up of the university. $ 55 -65/day for two beds. No A/C or Cafeteria. Good location. Atleast use the same to the maximum number of days they will let you. Find other suitable place after landing there.

I was in this situation a couple of months back. When the Marriott Courtyard costs $150+ per night that quickly adds up. Staying there for a week itself can set you back quite a bit, especially when you're not earning.

I couldn't believe the amount of money I went through the first couple of months after landing.

Although I do agree with your point in this case there's a valid reason to go a bit cheap.

Crisraj, one option for temporary housing is craigslist.org. You could look for something furnished for a slightly longer term - say 2 weeks or so. That was what I did, and it worked out quite well for me.

Another option is something a little away from downtown, yet close to the metro.

I am attaching the link here under. The other one had different rates. They have a few other locations too. Good Luck.

For budget travel to Montreal we got the best value for our money at the Y hotel.
I was not sure when my wife made the reservations at a "YWCA" hotel but I was in for a surprise. It was very clean and new...... and for the room rates we paid we got great value. The best part is the location ... right in the heart of downtown just steps away from St Cathrines street. I think it has a 3 star rating.

Some drawbacks are that men are not allowed in the pool as it is a YWCA establishment and parking around is pricey but that is true for any downtown in a large city.

here is the brochure ...

Try it and have fun in Montreal.!!
