Tamil names can be funny like : (literal meaning)
Pitchai - begger ( to mean a free gift from god)
arumugam- six face
nagappan- king of snakes
senthamarai-lotus
petambaram - pe means s**t and it is emphasised in the name.
karuppusamy- black king
vellaisamy-white king
vettrivel- spear of victory
ethusamy-where is god (meaning there is no God)
Kannaiyiram- 1000 eyes
TK

Sidenote : What is so funny about "Sukhdeep" ?
Sidenote 2 : When i came to india in 1983, i knew tamil but did not know how to write it. So these names were very funny to me.

What is funny about this? :( 95% of Hindu names are derived from Sanskrit literature. Many of these words are "samas" - a combination of many words.

IMHO, you must be terribly misguided by the word "Peetambaram" (As written in Gujarati - Sanskrit).

"Peet" means yellow. "Ambar" means cloth. "Peetambar" means "peet ambar yasya sa" (If my sanskrit knowledge is not rusty). That menas "One whose clothes are yellow" or Lord Vishnu

So all the tamil words you have written must be having a sanskrit equivalent.

These names may sound funny to a person alien to Hindu culture, but should not sound funny to a Hindu, IMHO
