In addition to what Fido has just stated, let us look at the recent truckers strike.

This strike is done by all the trucks plying in the entire country. Goods worth 1000s of crores are unable to be removed and an equal value will get perished. But the main news media including newspapers like Hindu and ToI are silent on the issues involved and if at all give publicity to the above mentioned result of the truckers agitation only.

One of the nondescript Tamil news channels did manage to give the real picture. All that the truckers want is to end the tyranny of toll collections once for all in the about 374 toll gates on highways all over the country and about 40 of them in TN alone. The amount collected from trucks carrying goods may run into a lac of crore every year which the truckers are prepared to pay in advance. They also want an end to collections from toll gates which have long completed collection of money spent on building that highway, but still are maintained to fill up government coffers. This may end the unnecessary wait for trucks at the booths.

We cannot understand why NaMo who is supposed to be harbinger of change in people's lives is silent on the truckers problem. Is it because the toll collections are one of the 1000 cuts on the common man, just like the fuel taxes, to bleed him but keep the rich in the Forbes' list.

A Proud Indian Canadian

Read in Dale Carnegie book that nobody ever kicks a dead dog. In Tamil there is saying that trees which bear fruits get hurled of stones. But there is nothing heroic about what NaMo is expected to do. In fact, all these and much more were promised by NaMo and BJP and only a fraction seem to see the light of the day. Our leaders rest on laurels, easily get satiated, no killer or winning instinct and get Bharat Ratna even when they score 80 and are not bothered about really winning matches or battles for the country. Otherwise, Indian History might have been different.

Sachin getting out at 80 was considered a failure! So it is really good to see a high expectations setup by NaMo, and even if he fails on some of the counts he promised to deliver, the net gain to the people of India will still be phenomenal. People getting impatient is in fact shows the trust they have in NaMo as compared to any other previous government.
