I got the phone configured today and plugged in my normal phone, working great. Voice quality is perfect with all calling features.
Can't beleive that you get something free these days.
I paid 72$ for the VOIP Adapter + $56 for the config and now no more bills.
If it works for 5 months which it will then I got all the money back.
I downloaded the free phone and tried it out on my computer. You cannot call from a calling card on this phone. Also your internet has to be high speed. It will not work well with "lite" services offered by Rogers and Bell.
akscanada can you make calling card calls from your phone and what kind of internet connection do you have?
1. I have Rogers Express. Lite will not work with most of the VOIP Services. You need to go atleast one level up.
2. Every Calling card company has a Local 416 number - if you are calling that number you should not have any problem. I never use a Calling card - they do not give you a fixed rate and they is no way to check if they charged a higher rate for some city. I use Comwave LD and works perfect with this phone.
What if you get internet from Acnac and services of the free home phone line company for your home phone. Isn't that a deadly combination? What I think is you pay $18+ for Acnac internet(1 year contract) and one time charge for phone adaptor with free home phone line service provider and no charges after.
I am paying too much for both the services as I am with Bell now. I am wondering if I can please make the switch.
What do you think friends?

Check carefuly,
One of my friend has this deal.
1. You need a Dry Loop for Acanac becuase it is DSL and not Cable. That is additional cost.
2. The 18.95 is only for 12Months. It will go up after the 1st year but not a bad deal for 12 months but add the Dry loop cost in the monthly fee.
I have not heard that they give you a Free VOIP number in this deal. It is not on their web-site.
Thanks very much "akscanada" for your response. I didn't know that the internet cherges go up after the first year with ACANAC. It is nice that ACANAC is offering free complimentary home phone with internet but the catch is that you have to get a brand new number from ACANAC and you can not port your existing home phone number.
I want to keep my exixting home phone number. So ACANAC option might not be suitable for me. Does free home phone line company allow you to keep your existing home phone number?
