Why would I pay home phone ? if I hv high speed and get VOIP phone line.
I just read add on comewav : they offer 19 $ homeline with unlimited usa and India.
The condition is I need high speed internet connection. Which will cost me around 35 $ per month ( rogers , bell etc..)
So what is the best option ?
Take bundle from rogers or bell ( phone line + high speed) = approx: 30 + 30 = 60 $ no long distnace yet.
Or just take high speed connection and then VOIP ? = 30+ 19.00 highspeed + phone with long distnace

I am also thinking of doing the same. I am not sure of the quality of these phone lines though (VOIP). Any thoughts?
Thanks.

If you go with Bell or any DSL internet provider for high speed internet without a phone line, you will have to pay to dry loop fees on top of whatever they charge for high speed internet because you do not have an active phone line. It does not apply to high speed internet through cable like Rogers.
Primus offers cheaper combination of DSL internet and home phone but their customer service is crappy.
If you go for a VOIP phone, make sure they have your correct address in their records and update promptly if you move (for 911 calls just in case).

$19.99 per month for india and USA is just for first 3 months, after that its around 50$. check with them before you sing up
That's right. Unlimited calls to India for $19 something is for the first three months only. It is given in fine print in the advt that I checked. After three months it is around $45.
But Comwave has another package for $19 something with unlimited calls to the U.S. and within Canada.
Has anybody used/using it? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

how about Acanac ?
their price is good too. http://acanac.ca/DSL.html
I am trying to reduce cost as much as i can.
we can get good package deal with rogers or bell but i dont need full package.
all i care is home line and basic dsl. any other idea guys..

There seem to be two options available for home phone. One without VOIP router @ 9.95 and another with router @ 19.95.
For the one without VOIP router we need to buy a router. Router cost = 79.98 + shipping 9.99 + taxes.
It sure looks to be a good offer but my worry is about the quality of service. Any comments from existing users please?
Thanks.
Cheers.
