You came for more money. In how much time do you see yourself making more money?

Dear All,

I am an Engineer by profession working in Dubai. I migrated to Canada in 2002 with family, stayed on for 6 months and returned back to Dubai.

It was a nice experience, with mixed emotions. I managed to get some jobs, but things did not workout well and had to return.

I was given an impression that Canada is like heaven, but having lived in Dubai for 10 years I did not find anything new in Canada except for greenery and natural beauty.

Most disappointing fact is that the "GK" of North Americans including Canadians. They think these are the only prosperous country in the world. I'll tell them - please come and see Dubai, mindblowing infrastruature, Technologically advanced, high standard of living, glass cladded high rise buildings...I found only a few of that standard in Toronto.

People drive in Dubai the best of the Cars - BMW/Merc/Lexus etc.

Can you imagine I am driving BMW now..whereas I bought a second hand Neon in Canada.

People coming from Middle East/ Singapore will have dificult time adjusting in Canada, whereas first timers from India will happily accept struggle in Canada.

Hence my view about immigration is simple - If you are struggling in life and career - move to Canada you will prosper in few years.

If you are quite well off......think twice else will face struggle to come up.

Good thing about Canada is this not a biased society...unlike India/Dubai etc.

The lower category people are taken care off in Canada, whereas the University Graduates are not paid very high and taxed a lot. Hence there is no big difference between salary of a Clerk / Accountant / Manager. Here nobody cares about University degree. The difference in Salary between Graduates and non Grad are 30%...negligible

But believe me...I would still love to come to Canada after making some more money....because of the progress of the nation and stability of Future.

oK jAKE3D, I think the decision mainly depends upon the influence of others (friends, relatives, agents etc.) who persuade you to take the step forward.
Well, The primary intentions of me to migrate is for the better future for my children, in terms of higher education, a good carrier and a good life.

BlueLobster

Thank you for that good advice my friend. That was just a hypothetical sum I mentioned to find out what would be enough.

So what are your views about Vancouver ? I have been to Seattle and Portland, Oregon, USA, and like the environment and scenery a lot, and someone said thats what Vanc,BC, looked like too. Is that true??
