6.6. Documents required with citizenship application
The Citizenship Regulations define which documents are required, as a minimum, to support
applications for adult and minor grants of citizenship, resumption, retention and
renunciation of citizenship.
For example, subsection 3(4) of the Regulations requires that the following documents be
submitted with an application for a grant of citizenship under subsection 5(1) of the Act.
(a) a birth certificate or other evidence that establishes the date and place of birth of the
applicant;
(b) a record of landing IMM 1000 or a Permanent Resident Card (PR card) or a Confirmation
of Permanent Residence IMM 5292 or any replacement document that may be created by
the Canadian authorities or other evidence that establishes the date on which the applicant
was lawfully admitted to Canada for permanent residence;
(c) two photos of the applicant signed by the applicant of the size and type shown on form
Citizenship Photograph Specifications (CIT 0021) prescribed under section 28 of the Act.

According to this, you might not require the Record of Landing if you have PR Card. I have already forwarded this link to my friend & told him to call the call center & ask/clarify the things.

May be this can save some of his time in becoming citizen. Again thanks a ton for the information.

Any news from your friend irock.

I finally received teh acknowledgment dated September 19. They are pretty much on time. So it seems like the process is moving as mentioned on the CIC web.

You DO require the record of landing to get the citizenship. You may apply without the document but you will need to present the COPR at the time of written test. If you do not have one by then you may be allowed to write the test but your oath / citizenship ceremony shall be delayed till such time you get the COPR. COPR is the most important document ever to establish your PR status (for pension and other old age benefits). This is the document which they need to stamp in the citizenship ceremony.

Good news for you....

I guess this acknowledgment letter is for the citizenship application.

Have they sent you any confirmation receipt of application for certified copy of record of landing yet ?

My friend has not received anything yet. We even don't know if they received the application for certified copy or not. Is there any way to check ?

But he is gonna complete & mail the citizenship application in this weekend so that his processing gets started like you.

My friend posted the application for record of landing on 15th of July to Toronto west citizenship & immigration center...... When did you applied for record of landing ????
