Certainly Om Puri, KamalaHassan, etc. are not "superstars" in the same way as Big B is.
They are character actors.

If you want to compare Big B, a more fair comparison would be to folks like Dev Anand, Raj Kapor and Dilip Kumar, although they pre-date B by several decades.
