I don't think what he said about the film industry is entirely wrong. "Couch casting", and we all know what that means, is a norm rather than an exception as the other "honourabe" film industry wallas are trying to convey.
Maybe he has been playing his role off screen too, as has been made out by the media when they quoted his getting into some trouble when he was touring South Africa. However, that has no relevance and in no way alters or changes his observation about couch casting in the film industry . Moreover it has also has been the theme of several films and books. Why the big uproar now??
And to be candid, if I was a film producer/director and I had a choice to cast my heroine, especially a new face, everything else being equal, even I would be severely tempted to favour the one who would be willing to do "favours" to me.
But about why I am not a film producer or a film director, well that's for another time.

I think its quite the norm(unless you are from a film family). Most of the guys are not honorable either
.I was involved for a bit in the industry( my involvement was just fx... no casting couches afaik
) and remember the time that a now honorable producer(whose prior career was the henchman of one of the 2 big dons) called up a leading actress(since she was absent for the shoot) and threatened her saying 'abhey run... dhandhey pey aajaa!''.Sure enough the actress turned up soon enough(recovering from her sickness). So much for the glamor that we usually associate with the film industry.
The 'producer' is still laundering money for his boss via the film industry. I'm positive that he has patented the 'casting couch' by now
.There were also well known personalities, including ministers and police officers, calling on the 'producer'all the time...for special favors. Quite facinating the whole bit.
The +ve aspect is that these experiences helped me decide to move to Canada when the time came.
