Do we need any permission to carry ashes to India?

Hi All,

One of my friends mother passed away today she was a permanant resident. I would like to know if we need any permission from the authorities, airlines etc to carry the ashes to India.

Pls help out. Thanking you all in advance.

You need to contact Indian consultate. They will need to fill a form - Application for Miscellaneous Services.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I got some info here too at my end including that Indian High Commission formalities, but people here says thats all crap. Nobody cares for that and no one even asks for those formalities here at the airports and in India too. So people here suggested not to get into those formalities

Any comments on this?

Hi !
I personally belive that if somebody is carrying ashes of his own blood relative it is not necessary to fill out all formalties .
it's more required if it is carried by a friend / relative..
