Brother since I don't have many options all I am looking for is encouragement. I hope U of S is not that bad in biomedical engineering.

HBK... the first 2 semesters should be fine for you. Read the sticky thread on this forum.

1.) Begin your PR application process ASAP. (your sis may be able to help you)

2.) Are these professors in the ECE department ?

3.) What will be your area of research ? Medical Image processing or Medical instrumentation...?

4.) Get "A" grades in your courses and if possible "at least" publish a conference paper. Your best bet would be
Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. This will give you a big boost for the BIG universities in British Columbia (which would be the best bet for you, as your sis lives there... Aim for SFU, or UBC), Ontario (Waterloo, U of T) or Quebec (McGill..which has the best Biomedical Engg Department in Canada).
So you see you have your work cut out for you :) Endure one winter..meet some Saskatoon Desi's...and then say bye bye !

Best of luck

Hi every1,

I have done a bachelor's in civil engineering from India (2009 to 2013). I came to Canada as an international student last month (dec. 2013). I am studying in first semester of Civil Engg. Technician in Seneca college,Toronto. Its a diploma level course.

I want to aplly for Master's in Geo-engineering in University of Saskatchwen.

Can anyone suggest me whether i should stick to my diploma course as it has got a co-op and i can get so called "canadian experience" in it (which can lead me to an entry level job) or i should apply for master's ??? as i have heard its very hard to get even an entry level job here in canada.

Any help would be really appreciated

Currently jobs are hard to come by. If you are a CO-OP student, hang in there and complete your education, which will give you sufficient idea as to what the other professions are like and what you can expect to make after your completion of such a course and what they offer at the entry level.

This Technicians course will get you an entry through the door. Financially you will be better off too.

You have good fundamental back ground to enter into Geo-Technical Engineering anywhere. Since you are competing with local graduates who are entering from a LOCALLY RECOGNIZED UNIVERSITY in good standing, it will be up to you to get your standing from an Indian University recognized, and if need be complete any deficiency that they want you to fulfill first. So, get through the entry process first and see if they will accept you into Sasketchewan University. Then if you find that you have the funding to withstand another THREE or Four Years to complete the course, then go for it.

This technician's course will only help you to keep you afloat and get entry into Canada. After you get a PR into Canada, your funding situation will get a lot better and further studies will not burn a hole in your pocket book. (The fees are standard fees for the PRs.)

That is my opinion based on the facts provided here.

FH.

Thanx a lot for your reply bro!!

Even my plan was to stick to this diploma course and get an entry level job. I was thinking of pursuing my Master's once I get my PR.

But the problem is I am a fresher to this country and do not know the future prospects of this diploma course regarding job. That's why I am confused and not able to decide which way to go.

Can you please throw some light on the future of a Civil Engg. Technician here in Canada.
It would be of great help.

Condition mean that few extra courses. After you get good grades than your actual program starts. It is a good university;however, the weather sucks. Good choice to set your foot in North America with a decent degree that is economical.
