Should the Govt even be wasting its time on an issue like this? You gotto love democracy :). I think the catholic-christian groups who are likely to be 'offended' just should not watch the movie. That's probably what the Popes going to be doing. I dont think they are demanding a ban in Italy.

I think I'm going to protest the upcoming Superman movie. I find it offensive that a guy flaunts his underwear in public. A red one at that!!!

I think the governments got too much time on their hands.

So people have spoken against the movie and want it banned, it's what happened with Passion of the Christ and even Evita!

It's a fictional book made into a movie....it's how most movies are made.

OTOH, it's a very interesting subject matter...you know they did find a gospel of Mary Magdelene...she was supposed to be the closest disciple of Jesus...but I guess the men of those days couldn't handle a woman knowing all of the son of god's secrets and branded her a prostitute...and you know what they say about mud.

oh yes? Did not hear about that...did hear about the gospel of Judas being found though.

I guess if they hear about it the catholic-christian groups in India may decide to out pope the pope again. Maybe this time instead of demanding a ban, burn a few things around...get cracking on the fatwa-isque angle...etc...etc. What better way to defend something that requires no defence?

You know, I love reading about this stuff, and although I'm sure it's a great book, I haven't yet run out and bought the book, because it's not really based on concrete fact.

For factual based investigative research on these kinds of subjects and also egypt, I would recommend you read anything by Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval.

Goes to show, how retarded folks of a certain religion in India are ! :(

Even more ironical that this was filmed in a Cadthedral in the UK...and is even being released in many -certain religion- countries

DISCALIMER :-..I am an agnostic !

Director Ron Howard wanted the movie to be shot in Westminster Abbey, but they declined the offer saying the movie was "theologically unsound". Westminster Abbey is said to be the last resting place of Sir William Shakepeare. It was in fact filmed at Lincoln Cathedral which, ironically, has been used to depict Westminster Abbey in other movies.

Parts of the movie were also shot in Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh which has long been the focus of legends connected with the Holy Grail.

Its probably not a religion thing...maybe a culture thing?

e.g:
Hindus violently protesting mf hussains paintings, deepa mehtas fire etc.
Muslims..cartoons etc
Christians with last temptation of Christ, Da vinci code etc. Dont know if theres been violence yet but there will be if 'demands' of a 'ban' are met.

I guess Indians are amongst the 'easily' inflamable people :)

All we need for this to become more of a problem is for the people who believe in freedom, or the silent majority, to say nothing OR find excuses OR Justifications OR using it as a potshot to blame a specific religions :).

If any of these religions are so superior why do the adherents feel so threatened by a movie, painting or other works of art(even if questionably so)?
