My Recent experience to get TN Visa

Has anyone ever been able to get 'TD' status for a parent(dependent) who is also a Canadian citizen? What are the options available for taking a dependent parent(who is a Canadian citizen) to the US for longer than the customary 6 months they can stay anyway...

TD is only for spouse and children, not for parents.

Yes, I was aware of that. What I meant is has anyone had the experience of taking a parent(who is a Canadian citizen) and having them stay in the US for more than 6 months..?

if you look at the visa reciprocity table it says N/A in all for any country you select,

BUT I am aware that TD is not only for Canadians and Mexicans.

Any US embassy or consulate should be able to issue a TD visa, since there is no citizenship restriction on TD aliens, only TN.

The question is wether the consulate in question is familiar with TDs.

Sorry for reviving this old thread. My questions were a related to this old discussion and thought of posting it here.

Since dependents are not allowed to work with TD visa, what are the options if spouse wishes to work? Is it realistically possible to get TN visa for spouse if qualified and accecpted by US company? Please comment. Thanks in advance.

Wow, thanks for responding so fast. My wife is a Canadian citizen, so I guess its best to apply for TN. I am stll in my early stages of exploring options in US.

The biggest difference I see is the number of IT job postings (DBA/programmer) in US; In Canada the postings are less compared to the high number of postings on US sites.
