Hi Dear morning_rain
I am so happy that u understand the pain of immigerants. You are very well aware of the circuimstances they pass thru.
I am very thankful to the people who launched this site where we can share our feelings.
My only advice to all new immigerants is that don't give up. If we fight our future generations won'nt struggle like us in canada.

Surinder:
cheers:

b_surinder,

Thanks. My parents were immigrants to Canada and 30 years ago when they migrated here, they faced the same problems of not having their education recognized etc. My father has a masters degree and my mother her teaching degree but both struggled and had to start over..and raised their family.
I am very grateful because I am one of those 'future' generations that is benefiting from my parents struggles.

I have been reading all your posts and the replies and thought finally I'd put my two cents worth in. I am a Career Counsellor working in Vancouver BC

snip

Professional: I have to agree with those posters that have told you that Attitude is a major factor in finding a position related to your profession.

snip

Softskills are what is key.
Employers are looking for professionals that not only know their technical skills but also have the ability to communicate with a variety of levels.

I dnnt think its just about english language.

On February 28, 2005, you say that soft skills are key.

On May 4, 2005, you say its not about the English language. You agree (in your post of Feb 28, 2005) that "employers are looking for professionals that not only know their technical skills but also have the ability to communicate". Does this communication process not take place in English in BC?........

Crenshaw you undermine yourself when you respond to people's genuine thoughts and then insult them.

Oh, so you think comments like "Canada is a place of uneducated personnels (sic)" are reasonable that everyone has to agree with?

You might consider yourself uneducated, I won't, so any comments of that sort will always elicit a response from me!

They struggle daily like you do.

Its probably getting fashionable on this board for people to say that they 'struggle' in Canada. I don't, thank you!

Crenshaw ,

I wonder which high profile professional Ivy League back ground u r from ----- look around - u will find dozens having the same qualifications and permit me the demeanour and so called linguistic skills also ..... must thank ur stars that they ve treated u well......... otherwise u dont have anything special.

U remind me of an Indian who was a was absolutely zilch back home and was lucky in Toronto and then remarked........' I havent gone back 2 India in 3 years .....it sucks '

Superiority complex eh ??

Manasvi.

PS : have u introsepcted that u r the only individual who foul mouthedlly argues endlessly and exasperates others ....... I hope u dont have in ur mind that ur the only successful around. No wonder u dont get much respect on the board .

Manasvi

Have you figured out the difference between 'onboard' and 'overboard'.:D

Don't know why you insist on making personal comments!

As far as you are concerned, you remind me of the loads of pathetic people who come to Canada, can't do anything with their lives, so bad mouth the whole country.

You're a classic case of sour grapes!

I have been observing this thread and many other similar threads where people just crib n whine about Canada.
Agreed that it might be a little difficult to find a job in your profession, but then isnt that true in any country, more so in India, where the competition is more fierce than anywhere else in the world.
Come on guys, you made a conscious and educated decision to move here, then why complain.
Instead of whining on the forum, a little introspection and positive attitude might help.
Other than the Indian (desi) immigrants I havent seen anybody else whining so much. If you look at the orientals, they are immigrants too, how come they are so successful.
In fact Indians have an advantage of being educated in English. Just my Cdn $0.02

As for crenshaw being obsessive and stubborn, I dont think thats true as I know him personally and agree to his views. You cant blame a person if he calls a spade a f***in spade.
Bring on the flames guys. This is really interesting.
