I suspect the processing time will be substantially reduced in the months to come. Stay tuned!!!

My sister had applied for immigration in july 2002 , was processed under the new system and secured 72 points and was rejected. What happens under the nw point system of 67.Does she automatically qualify or does she have to go through the whole process and reapply???.
her case will be reopened but there's a procedure for that.

Mr. Massood, I have a small query. I applied for PR in Canada in June 2001. The case was filed in New Delhi. It seems this office is likely to take a lot of time. Infact, it has been more than 2 years they have not contacted me for anything. Although, I qualify under both the points system. My real uncle in Canada fetches me 5 points. Please guide me if I could do something to have my case processed at a faster speed. Would a job offer letter help? I have also heared that UK Visa Post takes lesser time. Is it possible for me to change my Visa Post from New Delhi to London? Or else should I simply wait and watch. But then can you give some idea as to how much more time it is likely to take? Also please guide whether I need to appear for IELTS, even though I make 76 points under the old rules of '70 points'? Isn't it compulsory for those who applied after January 2002? I shall be grateful for your reply. Thanks Sonu.

- WE CAN ONLY HELP IF THE EMBASSY IS TAKING LONGER THAN THE TIME THEY INDICATED IN THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IT'S STILL EARLY FOR YOU.
Would a job offer letter help?
- NOT TO MAKE PROCESSING FASTER. ... HOWEVER, A WORK PERMIT WILL GET YOU INTO CANADA IN A FEW WEEKS.

- YOU CANNOT TRANSFER YOUR FILE
Also please guide whether I need to appear for IELTS, even though I make 76 points under the old rules of '70 points'?
- YOU DON'T NEED TO
Isn't it compulsory for those who applied after January 2002?
- NOT COMPULSORY BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Dear Mr. Massood,
Thanks you very much for your clear cut replies. Just to reconfirm, may I ask you again about the necessity of IELTS in my case? Why I am specifically asking this question again is because my real uncle in Canada whoc is fetching 5 points to me has very strongly recommended that I should appear for IELTS and score minimum of 7 bands in all the four components. Whereas as per my understanding, it is not required for applicants who applied before January 2002 as earlier English Language used to fetch maximum 9 points. Although my relative says that if I score 7 bands in all the four components of IELTS, I will surely get an interview waiver. Please guide.
Also please let me know the rocedure for applying for a work permit. Does your firm provide this service?
Thanking you in advance
Sonu
Is your uncle a lawyer? Right now, you will be assessed under old law and no need for ielts. Taking ielts will not change anything. If you don't score enough, you'll be assessed under new law. At that stage, the embassy will ask you take ielts. If you want to be prepared in advance, then go ahead and take ielts [if you think you may not qualify under old rules].
Under new law, ielts score [band 7 x4] will almost certainly mean interview waiver.
We do provide work permit services. You need an employer who is willing to employ you and employer needs to demonstrate they've looked in canada for someone with your skills and couldn't find anyone and therefore they need to hire you.
