Is there any reasonable Optical Repair Shop in the vicinity of Brampton.

There is "Image Opticals" at Fortinos Plaza (Bovaird/Airport) in Brampton who carry out repairs. I have not personally been to them though.

The eyeglasses that you wish to repair are from India or from Canada?

When frame of my eyeglasses broke, I sent them to India by post for replacement of the frame as the eyeglasses were made in India. I could not get a frame here that would fit those glasses.

I am not sure I understand. AFAIK, if you have only glasses and are looking for a suitable frame, all you have to do is find one that has the "glass fitting" area of the frame smaller than the glass itself. The optician then cuts the glass to suit the frame. Better still, these days "half frames", I guess that's what they call them, have become quite popular. They do not encapsulate the glass all around as the traditional frame. They cover only the top half of the glass and are screwed directly into the glass.

So how come you were not able to find a single frame that in which your glasses could be cut down to fit. Unless of course you had real tiny glasses to begin with.

I went to Hakim Opticals. The rep asked if the glasses are from back home and I said yes. She tried couple of frames which did not fit the glasses I had. The cheapest one she tried was for $100 for frame alone. She then remarked it is glass, I said yes. I did not ask any further questions as to if the old glasses can be cut or not. The solution she provided was to go for eye exam and go for new glasses. I asked for estimate and I got estimate for $200-250 for the cheapest ones and $400-500 for decent ones.

I sent my eyeglasses by air mail to my relative in New Delhi and got it back in about 1-1/2 months. It takes 14 days for registered air mail parcel to reach India, 14 days to come back. I had a spare pair anyway. In total, it cost me less than $35.
