hey jughead......i m in the same boat as u r and it is a consulting giant too.....though i haven't quit my job yet....but since u said it is a global consulting company it piqued my interest ....is it "dtt" by anychance if u don't my asking.....? if it is then at least i will know it is probably their process that is causing this delay and that it is the same for everyone.....
Jughead don't worry about that . Some times so things like that,so you are all set to go belive in god.Hope every thing is fine.In how many days after Your PR you will get this offer. Are you applied jobs from USA ???????
Once again all the best .
Thanks for the encouragement Smiley, Newdesiintoronto & Madhauri. Will keep you posted on how it goes.
Newdesiintoronto - the consulting company is not 'dtt' (not sure what that means!). I just want to hold off on publicizing at this point till I hear something positive for sure! It looks like many large companies perform such background checks. As Smiley pointed out, it probably takes 1-2 weeks. How long has it been since your background check started?
Madhauri - I became a PR in Sep 2004, but was in Toronto only for a week then, I returned to NJ, USA. So, I have been having my PR for the past 5 months, but haven't actually lived there. I've been trying for jobs from US, and was planning to come to Canada anyway on March 10th and continue my job hunt. Also, I posted my resume on workopolis & monster sites recently, and that is how I was first contacted for this position.
Still keeping my fingers crossed.. Just can't bear the suspense anymore!
Hang in there, bud! It'll work out.
I know exactly how you feel about the suspense having gone through a job change myself recently. It took over a month for it to unravel, but unravel it did.

Are you there?
Thanks BL. This is encouraging. But did it take over a month for the background checks to be completed in your case??
I have to move out of New Jersey anyway on March 10th. I have decided to wait for 2 more days, and if I don't hear any further updates about the Vancouver offer, I'll book my flight to Toronto instead. If this one comes up after I have landed in Toronto, I can anyway fly to Vancouver from there.
Now Vancouver seems an attractive option, especially with respect to the weather.. although I think the same cannot be said of IT jobs compared to Toronto. (I was flirting with the idea of Calgary earlier!)
