Hi guys,
I am here in Vancouver for few months . Going thru all the shopping malls here u come across so many jewellery shops publising Canadian diamonds. I am deciding to buy a diamond ring for my wife. I wish to know wether it is actually a good deal to buy a diamond from here or the prices are much less back in India? I have no experiance in diamonds, so guys.. and gals please advice.

Diamond jewelry is certainly much cheaper back in India. For you information, India is a huge resource for polishing precious and semi precious stones. The diamonds come mostly from South Africa.

well let me tell you that it really depends on what you r want to buy.. and how many points or cent the diamond is.
many times when you buy diamonds from india they are small. there may be lots of them........ but these diamonds are actually chippings... so not really worth much.
when buying a diamonds in india(or anywhere in the world) you should make sure that they are of good colour/cut/clarity and not small chippings that have been placed into a piece of jewellry.
make sure you get a certificate to guarantee your diamonds worth.
in canada diamonds are genuine but expensive. but aleat you are gettign wat you have paid for.
i recently have bought diamonds in canada,uae and india and have noticed the difference.... in colours...
so good luck ...but make sure you do your homework.
Thanks for your advice rugrat, but in india too we have companies like Tanishq and nakshatra which give certificate of genuine diamond and have a 100% buy back schemes. I have decided to buy it in India itself, now the only thing remains is to convince my wife, thats gonna be tough!!!
