The PR visa is a single entry visa, so once you have become a PR it is of no significance.
Only a PR card or a travel document is needed for re-entry into Canada.

Correction, Starting Dec 1, 2003, U have to have a PR Card.
(I guess u dont need ur IMM1000 if u have the PR Card)

"The card became mandatory for permanent residents returning to Canada by commercial carrier as of December 31, 2003.
Since that date, permanent residents returning to Canada by airplane, boat, train or bus must show their PR card to carrier personnel when boarding to prove their permanent resident status in Canada."

Also, u should meet the PR residency obligations (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/res-oblig.html)

Sorry if I waesn't clear the first time.

A travel document works equally well if a person does not have the PR card.
Most of the landed immigrants who landed prior to 2003 do not get PR cards automatically.
They can use a travel document to re-enter Canada.

What happened to the visa stamp? Are you saying that you entered US on a visitor visa and now have a new passport? What happened to the old passport?
A visa is a permission to enter by the country you are going to. In this case, you are leaving US and coming to Canada, so IMO I don't imagine anyone would want to look at your US visa. To enter Canada you need permission to do that and I guess you have the PR card for that.
