Hello Kamalakannan:

Allow me to introduce myself as a CA,CGA,CMA and an MBA.I have had rich experience in working with multinationals and developing business.

I currently reside in Canada;and have family relatives in Australia, USA ,UK and Singapore.

Based on knowledge gained from these places and people and based on my own experiences,I therefore feel suitably experienced enough to answer your questions.

Ultimately, your success as an MBA depends upon how you market yourself and how well you can use your knowledge and skills learnt in the MBA successfully.

For your information, the trend of hiring MBAs has dropped. In a recent survey conducted by the Wall Street Times(USA) , a survey of the Fortune 500 corporations revealed that the average MBA was expensive, lacked technical skills, was not as productive enough as a non MBA and was not worth the huge salaries demanded .They felt it was much more cheaper to hire non MBAs (but technically qualified such as BE,PEng,CA etc) and train them through the Management Trainee Programs to be managers.

The other trend I feel I must caution you about, is that there is increasingly difficult for Indians to secure good managerial positions in US, Canada, Australia and the UK.Please do not be deluded by the optical illusions which many of us project about the West.Lot of educated well qualified Indians are working as taxi drivers, cooks, bartenders, waiters, bussers etc just to repay back the loans taken to do MBA, PhD etc. There are only a few minority say about 1% of the people who really succeed in good jobs. You have to examine whether you are really competent in all aspects(not only degree, but also connections, social grace, English manners etc) to be in that top 1%.

Australia is a vast country with not much of business potential.Canada is heavily dependant on the US economy for growth. With a continued weakening of the US economy, Canadian economy has also been going down, with lot of lay offs and unemployment.Hence job prospects are not so bright, all the more so with an MBA. Remember, the moment you put MBA in the resume, people identify you as " expensive" and may not want to call you for an interview in a weak business economy where they have to cut costs.

As to choice of university, I would say both places are equally good.Refer to paras above.

Trust that this helps. I have always believed in giving the factual harsh realities of life rather than give sugar coated happiness which is short lived.

If you have any questions or clarifications, pl feel free to contact me.

Kamal

If ur going to do MS in Australia I think its best, coz this kingston in Toronto is bad. My friends have studied there due to its course 3 of them discontinued their course and had to go back to India to get their tution fees back. As of Australia I am not aware of the college but its best u do ur MS instead of MBA. As Mr. Satish said now employers want technical people who can be trained for Management positions. If u wana come to canada Its best u go to Australia and apply for canadian Immigration, by the time u finish ur education (2 years ) u should have ur Canadian Immigration. If that suits u do write to me I can give u a detailed write up as to wats required for Canadian Immigration. Do u have any work Exp???

Another kind advise pls dont take ur agents words, they are there to make money, so pls research on ur college or Univ before u make ur mind. Do send details as to which college u have selected in Aussie I will try to find some info on that. I have few friends there.

This is a very informative thread. Can the mods please change the subject of this thread to something like "MBA in Australia or Canada", so that it can found later on, using the forum search engine.
